Great course. Staff was excellent.
Don't want to say too many nice things or everyone will go play but it was so nice I can't help myself.
Great course, fair challenge
The course was in excellent condition, also really liked the electric carts and the gps in the cart that also shows the slope details of the greens as you approach. The course itself is quite beautiful, not terribly difficult, but it definitely leaves room for you to beat yourself with mistakes. The staff was also very friendly and even gave me a ride back up to my car with the golf cart.
5.25 hour round
Loooooong afternoon. Got there early to warm up and they were out of carts. Have a drink while waiting? Nope, no one was around to take an order. Finally get on course and 5.25 hours later we were finally done. At one point 3 groups were on the par 3 17th…
Geneva National Palmer Course
This is a wonderful layout and good condition. The problem is that management allows groups to play events like a mock Ryder Cup on a Sunday with a full tee sheet. Everyone behind these 16 players suffer and it becomes a 5 plus hour round. Why management allows this is beyond me. If they allow it ithey should insist upon a 4 1/2 hour pace of force these groups to skip a hole. They destroy everyone else's experience.
Decent course layout
Slow pace of play really ruined about everything else. Will say if pace of play is normal you’d likely enjoy the scenery and conditions of the course.
Championship Quality
Course was in pristine condition. Geneva National staff treat you like honored guests. Friendly staff are always looking to help you.
The course layout is beautiful. The course was laid out in the glacial area with rolling elevation changes, mounds , and heavily forested. The course is challenging, the greens are undulating. and the environment is enchanting .
When you have finished playing? You feel rewarded for such a wonderful environment and experience,
Did I say what a great place to play,
Never disappoints
Although the first nine holes were played in a pretty heavy fog, the round was excellent. This course never lets you down and offers a challenging yet fair test of your skills.
No drink service, no drinking water, no on course amenities
I am a resident of Geneva National and play these courses often... a word of caution: Bring water or drinks! Unless your playing on Saturday or Sunday drinks carts only serve the members course. Even worse is all halfway houses are almost always closed. They provide no water on the course whatsoever. The clubhouse is beautiful and the courses are well maintained and challenging. When paying $100 or more for golf I expect to be able to buy water or a beer... even at $10.
Staff was Great
Love the GN courses. The staff made an extra effort, from the pro shop to the halfway house. Value is excellent for a nice resort course. Pace of play this time was about 5 hours and even for a Sunday in August, that is very slow.
Water
Course is about what to expect from a super popular public course. Layout and conditions are pretty good, but two major complaints..
1. Drinking Water. Put some friggin drinking water out on the course. I get it, you make money off people drinking beer, but no one like being nickel and dimed into drinking $5 bottles of water when you could easily just put out a few water jugs on 2 or 3 holes. It's ridiculous.
2. Pace of play. Somehow, even with three courses, they managed to have just about everyone who was playing between 9-11AM all play on one course, slammed back to back. Spread out the play, guys. That's why you have 3 courses.
Awesome
This course isn’t cheap but worth every penny. Well maintained and aesthetically pleasing. Not brutally hard but you have to play well to score. Greens not super fast but a good moderate speed. End your day with a brisket taco and spotted cow inside the great restaurant or out on the deck. They now have a great putting course as well. AWESOME+
