Palmer at Geneva National Golf Club

About
The Palmer Course is just one of three championship courses at Geneva National Golf Club. The other two boast well known designers as well: Gary Player and Lee Trevino. All of the courses were carved from the lush countryside along the banks of Lake Como, the sprawling club is the second largest golf facility in Wisconsin. The Palmer Course is the most challenging of the three but the Player Course comes in at a close second. There is less water one this course but it still has a prominent presence throughout. The golf course begins with a tricky water hole, a par 3 that is crossed two by a meandering stream. The 17th is also memorable since it plays right along the lake. There are a few homes lining some of the fairways but they do not distract from the stunning scenery throughout the golf course.

Best course
Really enjoyed this course, layout is perfect.
Staff is excellent!
Fall golf
I enjoy all three of Geneva National's courses. Leaves can be an issue but the Palmer course was excellent condition.
Great layout with tricky greens
Really enjoyed the course. Great layout with an amazing stretch of finishing holes along the lake and then 18 coming back to the clubhouse. Greens were a little tricky to read. Would recommend this course and the entire facility!
Nice course for the GolfNow value we got
Regular rate at the time of play was $155.00. We got for $75.00 on GolfNow and after fees was approx $81.75/ea, so almost half price for this course was a steal. It was a cooler day, which made for comfortable playing temp. The front 9 was a little slow playing, but better on the back 9 it seemed. Course was in great condition. Greens were on the quick side even after some rain the night before, but rolled true were still fair. The course provides plenty of challenges on holes that are tree lined both sides and others that were open, but strategically placed bunkers made you think position before just going up to hit the ball. I had not played this course in probably 8 years and thought I may not again at the $155.00/ea price point, but when we got this deal it was certainly worth the $80.00 we paid, but not double that price. All and all a nice course that is well maintained and a good challenge. The one downside in my mind would be the $155.00 price point. Too many nice courses within say 30-60 minutes of their location for half of that cost that are more than comparable.
Great Course but SLOOOOOW
We really liked the Palmer course at Geneva National but it took 5 hours to play. There was a single player in front of us for whom we would see on most tee boxes as he was waiting even longer than us.
The ranger periodically throughout the round would provide us an update and say that a group 7 spots in front of us were slow and he was trying to move them along. But pretty much the entire round was waiting on shots. Not sure what he was actually telling them.
Felt like Augusta National
The most beautiful course I've ever played. Beautiful layout and fairways. Can't beat the twilight discount!
Geneva National Palmer Course
This is a wonderful layout and good condition. The problem is that management allows groups to play events like a mock Ryder Cup on a Sunday with a full tee sheet. Everyone behind these 16 players suffer and it becomes a 5 plus hour round. Why management allows this is beyond me. If they allow it ithey should insist upon a 4 1/2 hour pace of force these groups to skip a hole. They destroy everyone else's experience.
Never disappoints
Although the first nine holes were played in a pretty heavy fog, the round was excellent. This course never lets you down and offers a challenging yet fair test of your skills.
Championship Quality
Course was in pristine condition. Geneva National staff treat you like honored guests. Friendly staff are always looking to help you.
The course layout is beautiful. The course was laid out in the glacial area with rolling elevation changes, mounds , and heavily forested. The course is challenging, the greens are undulating. and the environment is enchanting .
When you have finished playing? You feel rewarded for such a wonderful environment and experience,
Did I say what a great place to play,
No drink service, no drinking water, no on course amenities
I am a resident of Geneva National and play these courses often... a word of caution: Bring water or drinks! Unless your playing on Saturday or Sunday drinks carts only serve the members course. Even worse is all halfway houses are almost always closed. They provide no water on the course whatsoever. The clubhouse is beautiful and the courses are well maintained and challenging. When paying $100 or more for golf I expect to be able to buy water or a beer... even at $10.
