Grand Geneva Resort & Spa
About Grand Geneva Resort & Spa
The Grand Geneva Resort & Spa is a sprawling 1,300-acre, AAA Four Diamond property, home to 355 rooms and 29 new villas. It's a four-season destination with the Mountain Top ski and snowboard facility and the 225-room Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark, an indoor-outdoor waterpark. Sandwiched between Milwaukee and Chicago, Grand Geneva invites city slickers to enjoy the laid-back lake life for a while. It started out as the Lake Geneva Playboy Club, part of Hugh Hefner’s empire. That chapter closed in 1981. Eventually, the property rebranded as a luxury golf resort in 1994 with fine dining and conference facilities for corporate clients. The Highlands and The Brute roll over hills and water hazards, creating distinct theaters for challenging and memorable golf. The WELL Spa + Salon, located in a separate fitness building, offers more than 65 treatments and services.Facts

The Briar Patch
Both of the golf course are beautiful. I have been playing these two for about 30 yrs. The changes that were made to the now Highlands have made it a gem. I always enjoy myself here. The staff and overall vibe is top notch.
Seems like a country course.
The course was in horrible shape. Some holes you were not able to play correctly because of ground maintenance. The greens were like putting on velcro. Someone needs to really spend some time and money on this course. The greens had multiple different grasses which made the greens not easy to put. Depending on which sand trap you were in would either have loose sand or compact sand. The beverage cart drivers were inconsiderate and did not understand golf etiquette. We waited on numerous holes for 10 to 15 minutes while the beverage cart serviced the group in front of us. I sent a message from my cart for a ranger to help with this situation and they never showed up. There were 3 different groups waiting on one hole for this beverage cart and group to finish with there purchase. Luckily the fee was only 57. If it would of been the normal price I would of asked for my money back and never finished my round.
Cart path only
The staff said they might have a hole or 2 that was cart path only. I understand rain and when needed not allowing carts off the path is fine. I think there was 8 holes cart path only which made the round hard for me who is in shape and run a lot. With how hilly it is my Mom on Mother’s Day was not able to play most of the back half of the course. The issues was of the 8 closed 1 maybe 2 needed to be cart path only. If that was the case I would understand why the grounds keep closed them.
