Nice course
Beautiful course. Very challenging holes. Great quality for reasonable cost.
Wild Rock is a gem, and fun for the scratch player or the casual golfer.
I always have a blast playing Wild Rock, it’s a course with a blend of great scenery and well- designed golf holes. In general, the course is huge, and you can hit driver without too much fear on nearly every hole which makes it really fun. Golfers should be honest with themselves (and their abilities) when choosing the tee boxes to play, but the course is very fair from the tee. For the more discerning player there are plenty of challenges throughout (strategic bunkering seems to make you second guess even your layup tee shot) and I guarantee you won’t be bored as you get closer to the hole. If anything the greens and their tiers are probably some of the most challenging features of the course. Worry not however, the greens at Wild Rock are fair, not ridiculous as some courses seem to be. In addition Wild Rock has a great staff awaiting you, accurate GPS carts with huge screens, and about 11 holes that are just awesome. Elevated tees are common which makes the course even more pleasing to the eye, and helps with distance on some of the longer holes. In summary, I highly recommend this course even after having played all the “big” courses in Wisconsin. Check out Wild Rock’s website and know that the photos are not doctored and also know that you will have a very fun round of golf surrounded by nature at one of the best courses in all of Wisconsin.
Wisconsin Dells Best Course
This course is by far the best one in all of Southwest Wisconsin. Nice variety of holes, excellent conditions, great practice facilities and friendly staff. I've played many of the courses in the area including Lawsonia, Trappers Turn, University Ridge and both Lake Arrowhead courses.
Top 10
One of my top 10 courses I've ever played. Beautiful layout and scenery. Only draw back on the day was the greens had been recently aerated and we were not informed ahead of time.
Challenging and Amazing Course – Rude Ranger Roy
We drove 3+ hours to play this course as a destination get away weekend to close out the golf season. Since the weather conditions were rainy and wet, the clubhouse informed us to stay 90º and cart path on all the par 3s. When you tee off the starter gives you a sheet that provides you pace of play with times you should be at those holes. In addition to your written sheet, you also have cart GPS that provides you with expected pace of play.
Our group was playing 10-11 minutes above pace and a ranger approached our group and in a very rude tone told us we better pick-up our pace because we were 2 holes behind the group in front of us. I started to politely tell him that the group in front of us was a twosome and we were a foursome playing 10 minutes above our required pace based on our sheet…I tried to show him my sheet and point that out and he gave us a dirty look and he just drove off while I was trying to talk to him.
When you pay higher green fees, you expect to enjoy yourself but also understand you don’t want to slow any groups behind you so they can likewise enjoy their round. The course is very challenging but even so, we ended up finishing our round in 3 hours and 36 minutes (14 minutes prior to clubhouse expected finish). I did let the clubhouse know about our experience with Ranger Roy but they didn’t really seem to care. In the end, we decided to eat somewhere else after our round and we canceled our following days tee time and played Trappers Turn instead.
If you haven’t played Trappers Turn located right down the road from Wild Rock you’re in for a treat! The course layout is amazing and will require you to use every club in your bag. The staff is extremely friendly and the food is excellent! Check out their website: https://www.trappersturn.com/. Our group had a blast and we’re glad we moved our tee time from Wild Rock over to Trappers Turn. We can’t wait to come back next year!
Great Golf...Slow Play
First, this is an exceptional golf course and even at $72 for an off-season round it is worth every penny. Make no mistake...this is a challenging track. Hills, length, and tricky greens add to the difficulty. But the difficulty of the golf course also means that less accomplished golfers can struggle...really struggle, and in my round that meant watching the group in front of us fall farther and farther behind. Ultimately, there were four or five holes open in front of them and the course was backed up as a result. Slow play makes it harder for better golfers to maintain a rhythm which makes it difficult to truly enjoy the exceptional qualities of the course. If you are a good player playing on a crowded day the challenge will be staying focused over the course of a five plus hour round.
Slow golfers should not play here
Nice course but 5 1/2 hour round. Waiting on every hole. Challeging for a good golfer, too much for the average vacationer.
The course is long & immaculate.
Challenging, but yet if played right you can have a decent score. I shot an 88 and my wife shot a 111. Beautiful day, upper 80's, lots of golfers & well worth the wait.
Amazing course!
We as a wonderful time on this truly amazing golf course!
Bring your A game
I really enjoy playing this course. It is a real test and you need to be on your game. There are several holes where you need to have at least a 200 yard drive to not be in deep trouble. Lots of tears and slopes to the greens. Still, the greens are fast and true. I also love how this course feels very out in the country, even though it is only a couple of miles from the chaos of Wisconsin Dells. There are also a five tee boxes so you can pick the links that you want to play.
A great day
Course played long due soft fairways. Greens were perfect. Fast and challenging
Must Play
Great layout and you need all the clubs in the bag. This is a must play.
Wild Rock-Dells
Very nice layout, fairways are wide but approach shots are difficult. Greens true and verry good condition.
Play appropriate tees so your approach shots are around 150 and you will really enjoy this track.
Stafg was super friendly eccept starter who should look for another job.
A Must Play
I've played a lot of golf courses in my days for l've been playing for 60 years but when I played this Masterpiece it put it the top 5 of all the golf courses that I've played in the State of Wisconsin and believe that is saying a lot. So please take my advice golfers and play the round of your life, you won't regret it.
