We liked the course a lot
We enjoyed our round at Wild Rock very much. We both felt the fairways were very forgiving. We thought that was probably a good thing, because the greens were very challenging to read and sometimes difficult if you were on the wrong side of the pin.
Top course for the money
Wild Rock is a first class golf track at a fraction of the cost of Whistling Staights or Erin Hills.
The staff was very accommodating and easily arranged an earlier tee time than the one we booked and helped us play through three flower groups.
The holes were often very picturesque and sometimes dramatic. There were plenty of hazards- water, sand, fescue and forest but the fairways were generous and Line of sight was almost always available.
The layout is large and a power cart is a virtual necessity and the state of the art GPS on the cart was very helpful.
The hot deal we got on this excellent course was like stealing.
The course is well away from the blitz and clutter of Wisconsin Dells- indeed, an oasis of calm and naturalness.
Andy
The most beautiful course golf around this area!! Excellent value for money, layout and pace off play
Fun course
Our foursome really enjoyed this course, it feels like you are far away from civilization, but has the nice amenities. There are great views and the course in challenging, yet fair. The food and drinks are expensive, but it is a tourist area, so that is no surprise. I would definitely golf this course again if I can find the same deals.
Great golf - Beautiful course
This course is gorgeous and provides a nice challenge. If you feel like you need more of a challenge back up a set of tees, they have 5 sets!
7 hour round
Staff was good. No problems there. Course was wet but can't control the weather. The big problem I had was pace of place. We were waiting 15 minutes on every hole and we let the rangers know about it after hole 3. We didn't see any change after we were told the clubhouse was informed. After a 7 hour round we were extremely annoyed. No I'm not a slow golfer, no one in our group was slow, just bad bad bad course management!
Great Price
Great price. Great course. Immaculately groomed.
Frustration
Very very tough course
Not recommended unless your handicap is less than 5
Pin placements and greens are ridiculous
Not a good resort course
Beautiful Day
Great course and thanks to Golf Now the price was affordable.. Get there early and use the practice areas as they are included. Use the bar after the round as it is beautifully located looking over the course. Be careful on the back 9 as there are two quarry holes that consume golf balls. The first quarry caught me off guard and ruined what I thought was a good shot.
One of the stars in Wisconsin
Wild Rock gets overshadowed by Wisconsin's major venues - Whistling Straits and now Erin Hills - but this course is every bit in their league.
It's a hoot to play, designed by the same duo - Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry - at the same time as Erin Hills. They gave resort golfers wide fairways and receptive greens, not the gut-busting holes and walk of Erin Hills. The terrain is also more dramatic with sweeping vistas that stretch for miles at key elevated tees or greens.
Every so often, they sprinkled in a bunker in the middle of the fairway or a tiny bunker front and center of the green to force you into hitting a quality golf shot.
My matched turned on hole no. 14, the final par 5 that's all risk-reward. My partner and I laid up to make par, while our opponents went for it in two and both made big numbers. That's the sign of a great design, one with swing holes coming home. It is one of the quarry holes, a stretch from 13-15 that's really strong. I can't recommend this course enough.
Wild Rock Golf Course, Wis Dells, Wisconsin.
The course is very picturesque. Lots of elevation changes. The view from the 6th tee box (from the tips) is spectacular. The fairways are wide but stay out of the fescue grass. Greens are in great shape, ball rolls true. I would recommend this course to anyone that is visiting Wisconsin.
Fun course to play
Great track course offers much for all skill levels with multiple tee boxes. My wife golfed here for first time she's average golf enthusiast and she loved it. Staff from starter to beverage cart girls very helpful and friendly I would highly recommend trying this course out if in the Wisconsin Dells and you are not a diehard water park person and love to golf. Golf course offers many specials so check their website.
Thurs round with my son
Great round, course was in great shape. Staff is always friendly, courteous and helpful. I'll be plating there again soon
Always satisfied
Played here with a group. Course is always in great shape and taken care of. Due to recent rains it was cart path only which added some time onto the round. Very challenging course. We golf here every year and will definitely be back. You can beat the golf package rates they offer.
Ranks with Wisconsin's best!
One of the most enjoyable courses I've played and a steal at $45 - easily worth twice that. Course was in excellent conditions with the greens rolling smooth and with good speed.
Wonderful mix of holes - left, right, uphill, downhill. Make sure you're plenty loose from the start as #2 requires a lengthy carry to reach the fairway. Par 3s are strong with #15 a magazine cover hole. Several holes have their fairway bunker in the middle of the fairway, requiring you to think a bit about how to play the tee shot. Most holes offer a way to get the ball on the green playing to one side on the other - but you may have a 60 foot putt on some nicely undulating greens.
One suggestion for the course - create a scorecard set of tees of 6000-6100 yards. At almost 6400 (alternative was 5700) yards from the whites, it was a little long for my game, resulting in playing a number of par 4 as short par 5s.
From a design, condition and enjoyment standpoint, it's the equal of some of the bigger name courses on the eastern side of the state - and for value, Wild Rock is hands down the winner. No question I'll be back to play it again.
