Aimee,
Yesterday, I hit my fairway woods better by swinging bigger and slower. Your noodle example also help me play my 3 irons better in the fairway. Thank you Aimee.
Aimee,
I'm sorry for writing almost the same thing, May 1, 2025 and on May 24, 2025. I forgot I wrote earlier. These clubs ( the fairway woods, my 3 and 5 woods) are the hardest clubs for me to hit well and I keep going back to old bad habits.
Aimee,
I'll let you know, by writing in this comment section, if your tips with the noodle and slower swing (slower tempo) work for me. I believe they will because I hit the fairway woods better when I slow down my tempo and swing speed. I hit the ball more solidly. I have tried this before because I usually top my shots and pull my fairway woods. I have slowed down my tempo and swing speed out of frustration
of topping and pulling my shots.
The tips on Golf Pass are great. The website itself is almost unusable. So. Slow.
Aimee, I used to have more problems hitting with my fairway woods, with good contact and tempo. I started using your method of a slower tempo and concentrating on a slower downswing, resulting in more solid hits and better height and distance, even though it feels like I am not swinging hard. With the better tempo with this fairway wood, I'm hitting the ball longer, more consistently, and effortlessly.
You have a beautiful swing. The shallower swing you use is more of a man's swing. Most of the women pros I see on TV use the fuller rounder swing. Either one works, just the male swing is more about the power of the back/torso utilized from 90 degrees back to 90 degrees forward.
Although very subtle, your weight shift is much about shifting weight is much about back to forward shifts, especially to start as a key to starting the downswing.
You also remind me the hips have to open on the backswing, which is why you move your front knee so much, it opens the hips and gives much more recoil power.
Richard
thank you good advise
Aimee, you did a nice job. Your explanation was precise and the application of your suggested technique was easy to implement.
Great drill Aimee - always helpful but also fun!
Aimee, should we hit down on the fairway wood?
