On the eve of the 39th Ryder Cup matches at Medinah Country Club, the talk centered on the Europeans recent dominance. They had won five of the last six matches and had an experienced team to defend. Four of the top five players in the world were on the European squad. Certainly, the odds were in their favor. Despite their experience and extra motivation, the European team was on the verge of being blown out of the competition by the U.S. team on Saturday afternoon and trailed 10-6 going into the singles matches.
