Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Ohio (2024 #12)
Reviews
Course OK
Fairways & Greens for the most part in great shape, there were a few sketchy sections off the fairway that had very little grass so as a group each of us had to drop our ball from an unplayable lie but other than that, course was in great shape. Golf carts were nice with yardage for every shot, but if I had not used Golf Now to get a discount I believe their regular weekly fees are higher than they should be.
Sloppy mess!
This course should have been closed for the day. Every hole was saturated with water. Cart path only which were mud and pot holes filled with water. Just trying to find a place to park on path to get out on a dry spot was almost impossible. No rain checks for Golf Now to return at a later date! Pace of play was terrible, as a lot of bad golfers during the afternoon! Windy day so easy to smell the THC in the breeze many times. Miserable day all around!
Great course; great staff; great amenities!
This is a great course that is in great shape, and there is nothing better than Old 30 BBQ in terms of amenities for post-round beer and BBQ!
Great well maintained
Staff is amazing and very helpful for anyone who was never played here before
Best greens in North Central Ohio (in March)
Always a great value! Fun course with only a couple funky holes, but absolutely great greens!

Great for the $$. Good job keeping leaves off the greens. Not bad shape
Great, welcoming course
Greens are very well taken care of, holes are simple but challenging, greens are tricky but fun. Great track!
Staff needs new attitude - Golf “Gentlemen’s Game” Unknown here
New GPS Gold carts caused a 3 hr. Front 9 - Why ? Golf cart power system is new - but no instructions given before playing ! Cart goes dead at every tee box, near any hazard , or many, many spots. It’s over- sensitized system . The Starter restarts your cart by alerting him 5-6 times a round, by calling him. This gets worse - stay with me. After a harrowing front 9 of cart breakdowns/restarts , the heat gets to 90° + , I’m 72 yrs old, need a 2 hour break , so spend 90 mins. Lunch and $75 at their restaurant clubhouse. It’s now 4pm ( teed off at 11:30am) , zi proceed to ask pro-shop/course mngr. for a RainCheck 9 holes - he refuses and says go talk to GolfNow where reservations were made because “we don’t know what you paid them. “ Like that is relative ? They treat GolfNow customers like foreigners from Antarctic ! They are PARTNERS with GolfNow and don’t know it ! But the manager could easily have issued a Raincheck, except he was bent on being right , not accompanying me whatsoever . Remember their new cart GPS system delayed the 3 hour 9 holes.
Suggestion for them : 1- improve your new cart GPS , and train golfers BEFORE starting 2- instructs staff GolfNow is their partner in business , not the enemy , nor their customers 3- consider teaching staff that golf is a gentlemen’s game, and a little charisma in your pro shop might help ! Lastly , I still like the course after 48 years playing there ! Great back 9 no one wanted me to see !
THE GOOD AND THE BAD
THE GOOD: This is a fantastic course-- a challenging but fun/fair layout that requires you to put the ball in the right places in order to have a chance to attack the pins. It is in fantastic shape, the staff is great, and the off-course amenities (especially Old 30 BBQ) are second to none. At $25 for 18 and a cart, it is the best course in the area for the money.
THE BAD: I've said it before and I'll say it again-- they need a ranger! I was sent out as a single and flew through the first 4 holes before catching up to a group of 3 seniors, who watched me sitting on the same tee box as them on 5, 6, and 7 but absolutely refused to let me play through. On 7, they caught up to a twosome of guys that they obviously knew, and they proceeded to play 7, 8, and 9 as a fivesome! It was absolutely ridiculous. Fortunately, they called it a day after 9, and I was able to fly again on the back.
My other gripe: they just put GPS screens on the carts, and they are horrible. First of all, they don't show anything other than that which every free phone app shows- distance to the MIDDLE of the green (as opposed to the pin), etc... What really makes them horrible is that they are programmed to shut the cart down whenever you enter into a "restricted area," and it happens at random places all over the course, even when you are nowhere close to the greens. I hope and pray that the course doesn't raise prices to pay for these things, as they are utterly useless and incredibly aggravating.
I'm not gonna lie
I mostly come here because of Old 30 BBQ and those stupid good brisket nachos of theirs.
However, I do love this course. It's tight. Small greens. Elevation changes galore. And, as best I can tell, it's never in bad shape. Even after being hit by a tornado last year.
I'd have never known if not for the fact I've done a lot of storm chasing in my younger days and recognized the signs of damage, which were hard to spot because of the quality of their cleanup.
