Apollo Elks Country Club, situated just northeast of Pittsburgh, is considered one of the area's must-play golf courses. It has appeal for a wide range of skill levels with a layout that is challenging enough for seasoned golfers but also not too difficult for beginners to approach. There is an interesting mix of holes ranging from reachable par 5s to short, tough par 3s and each hole has a distinct character. The greens are fast and the gently rolling terrain provides some subtle breaks that can be tricky. Bunkering is sparsely but strategically placed along the fairways and greensides. There are also a few water hazards that come into play at Apollo Elks Country Club. The round has plenty to hold your attention but don't forget to stop and admire the beautiful western Pennsylvania scenery.

Greens are great
Greens are true and well kept
Wish the fairways were as good!
Cart paths are terrible as are the carts! My back is still sore from all the bouncing around.
Not great
Honestly, we went after it had rained heavily but the bugs were awful, the fairways were in bad condition, cart paths were either dirt or nonexistent. The front 9 was only marginally better than the back 9
Rainy Day
There was a storm that came through the night before, so the course was really wet but still managed to hold up well. Fun track that is worth the deal. nice friendly people as well
Beautiful day of golf!
We had a very enjoyable round of golf!! We had never played that course. Front 9 we joined up with Christian & Billy (golf course members) They were both very friendly & very helpful with the course layout. The greens were in immaculate condition. The fairways were beautiful, rough was a bit high but manageable. The cart paths were a disaster but we made due!!
Good Price Course
The course was very wet from rain the day before, but cart paths were in bad shape. The layout was great and people were friendly inside. The course played real slow because of a twosome out making out versus ready to play golf. Needed a ranger.
Such an improvement.
This course is coming around nicely after a tough season of rain and heat. The greens are rolling really well, the staff are friendly and the price is right. I golf several times a week and this is worth a trip to play.
Bad shape
All the fairways are not only brown and green but it is literally just hard compacted dirt most of the fairways the greens are the only good green grass there is but the like to put the holes on the middle or edge of a slope on the green so you have no chance to put it close to the hole with out just sinking it
Don’t be tricked by Country Club
Got there one hour early to use the range which their website talks up. I asked for a bucket and the young man in the pro shop said no one collected the balls from last night so it’s not open. The practice green and chipping area was open but you have to cross a swampy trench to get to it. Decent golf carts but the golf cart paths are horrific. Half the course didn’t even have grass in the fairways or around the greens. I hit a great drive on hole 1 middle of fairway and it felt like hitting off the moon (assuming that would be rocks and craters). Luckily Golf Now had a hot deal and I got 10 bucks off so I played it under 30.00 bucks. There regular rates are 50.00 and that would have been very unfortunate. The other two golfers that we got paired up with were very nice people which made the round more enjoyable and the other golfers we came across on the course were also nice. The layout is very interesting and I personally didn’t think that part of the course was bad if they would just maintain the course and actually have grass to hit off it could be nice. The most surprising thing about the whole course was the sand bunkers were in decent shape. I don’t see myself going back to this course and don’t let their website persuade you differently.
