Can’t wait to return
Just over 6000 yards from the tips. A lot of elevation changes. Everything was well above average. Greens were in excellent shape tho the speed seemed to vary on a couple of them. Traps all seemed raked and the one I got in was perfect. A very good par 5 18th with water and an elevated green that I certainly hope to do better on next time around. ( it will be very soon)
Playing Crossgates was fun, but got 1000 times better after we met Emily. After her first trip past us on the 8th green, I absolutely had to have another oat soda when she came back past us on 12. That’s when my game slipped away. I rarely drink while playing, but Emily’s absolutely captivating energy and great personality made me want to have another.
Playing as a single I was very lucky to play with 3 others that we All got along very well. All 3 were decades younger than me, but we actually exchanged numbers to possibly try to get together again. With or without my new friends, I’ll be returning to try put together a better back 9 score and to renew my friendship with the best Beverage Distribution Engineer I’ve ever met!!
I recommend this course.
Touring
Just passing trough the east coast and I had the privilege to experience this golf course love the layout very challenging and definitely will play it again
Walking
I had a great round the course was great. My only complaint is I walked and carried my bag and paid the cart fee on golf now and was not reimbursed or comped anything.
Best around
Greens are rolling really nice . Layout is unique and every hole is different . Among the best public courses in the area .
Some cool holes, but a frustrating layout overall
I'm not a huge hitter, but at this course I swear I should play without a driver. The course feels very narrow and unless you can shape shots in both directions with good control, the driver is often way too long of a club even for me who averages a good drive at around 285.
Holes 17 and 18 are very nice though, 18 is one of the coolest holes around. It takes me a solid drive and a great 3 wood to reach it in 2, and even then just somewhere up around the green chipping is a great result as the green is uphill and protected. Some other holes are pretty cool as well, but 18 stands out by a long shot.
One of my local favorites
Crossgates is a visually beautiful course. You have holes that run adjacent to the river. Holes play with the elevation changes nicely. I like that you aren't going back and forth from hole to hole, New fairway grass is an improvement and I really enjoy the greens. Hole 9 and 18 test your patience.
Some of the newer homes are a little close for comfort, but hey, they knew what they were buying when they bought it. Course does encourage you to grip it and rip it. Very good grass and maintainence for a public course.
Can run slow on weekends if beginners are ahead of you, lost balls are almost guaranteed with an errant shot.
Well worth the drive
This course is a steal at $49 on Sunday morning at 9am. The course layout along the Conestoga River provides some beautiful scenery as well as some demanding holes. Playing for the first time, I wasn't sure of some of the yardages so I hit irons off 8 of 14 tees. Next time that will be cit down to about 4. The fairways are great and Greens are top notch. Fast but true, they haven't suffered the type of wear and tear this late in the season usually brings. The rough was thick but manageable. The 18th hole is a monster requiring some distance off the tee, accuracy for the 2nd and some great putting on the green. I would recommend this to everyone and will be back to play it again. Great job by the staff with all the rain this area has had in the last month (about 11" of rain). No fairways along the river were washed out or damaged. Go play this course.
comfortable
This is a comfortable course located within a residential community right next to Millersville University. It isn't long and generally puts a premium on accuracy, not length. However two par 5 holes on the second nine (10 and 18) didn't seem to fit the general design of the course with medium length par 3's and short par 4's. If I lived nearby I would go there occasionally to play.
Worth the hour drive
We play here 2-3 times a year and never a bad day. Course is always in nice shape. Pace of play is never an issue (we only play weekends). Eighteen is probably one of the best finishing holes of all the courses we play. Very good bloody marys.
Great lay out
Played many times always in great shape playing there again on 12/5/17
Some holes don’t need driver position is key
Great shape
For December 1st the course was in great shape. Leaves had been collected and were not an issue. The greens were fast and true. I also highly recommend the Copper Hill Cafe in the clubhouse. Very friendly staff and good food with nice specials on both food and drink.
Great Golf Course
Course is in excellent shape for this time of year. Greens really fast, but surprisingly smooth. Always a challenge at Crossgates. Recommend highly!
Great course for the price
Course is in great shape every time I've been there. Lots of doglegs that require a well placed tee shot. The par five 18th is one of my favorite finishing holes.
