Aston Oaks Golf Club
About
Aston Oaks Golf Club is perched atop rolling hills that overlook the Ohio River Valley. The Jack Nicklaus Design Group created the course, which sits on the former land of President William Henry Harrison. Although his presidency was short lived, traces of his legacy in Ohio can be seen throughout the golf course. Each hole was carefully carved from stands of mature white oak, hickory, and other native hardwoods. The course is tight and demanding with fast greens and plenty of elevation changes. The abundance of trees really characterizes the course. Between the 10th tee and the 11th green, there is a giant Buckeye tree that is the largest in the state. With all of the trees lining the fairways there was hardly a need to add bunkers, but there are some incorporated along the greensides that help to define some holes.

Wasn't able to finish all 18
First time coming here and had a terrible experience. I was only able to play 15 holes and that took over 5 and half hours. Just on the back 9 alone, the average time for the group in front of me to finish a hole was 35 minutes. Have to do a better job of enforcing pace of play because with the experience I had I will not be coming back to pay full price and not be able to even finish the course.
Excellent round of golf.
We played Aston Oaks on a beautiful May Day this year. Despite heavy rains recently the course was in excellent condition. A prior review noted some spotty areas on the tees but these were a minor issue. The fairways were green lush and beautiful. The course is remarkable for its extreme elevation, changes and fascinating holes. The greens are a little rough and slow but again I think that’s due to the recent rains and inability to really cut them down to their normal state.
Not worth the money
Fairways in bad shape, too pricey for poor course conditions
Fall golf
Overall the course was in excellent condition following a busy summer. Few leafy areas but you must expect it in the fall. Great round of golf and the carts were very nice and speedy. Enjoyable round and recommended.
Nice layout a little wet
I understand the difficulties of keeping courses going with the lack of rain but a lot of areas were overwatered and difficult to play .
Front 9
I have played here for years and never seen the front 9 in terrible shape. Fairways completely trashed missing grass and a swamp with no rain for days.
Run Down
Place is just flat out in bad shape. Fairways have weeds everywhere, tons of bare / dirt spots on the fairways and greens. I do love the course layout generally, but for the price you can play tons of better courses in the area.
Under Reconstruction
Course is in terrible shape, some fairways have new sod throughout, many are cart path only all the time, wet without rain (overwatered). Spoke with staff the extreme heat and torrential rains destroyed much of the course. I expect it will be a year to recover.
Bad shape !
Whole course needs a lot of work crabgrass greens or tore up Fairways are bad love the course very disappointed.
Needs a lot of work.
Every time I come up from Florida this is the one course I want to play but was very disappointed this time. They're working on it but I've never seen so much crabgrass on a golf course. Trash cans were overfilled and no one was working on the course which it needs a lot of work. Had to roll the ball in the Fairway to find good spots cuz there were so many places burn up or just a mess. I'll be back but it'll be a while before I do. Still love the course but hope it gets better.
Terrible condition
Do they even take care of this course? Worst conditions I've seen in Cincinnati
Not what it used to be
They boast about having 120 outings here a year, but its not the flex they think it is. Course is in terrible condition. Greens have craters from unfixed pitch marks, the fairways are burnt with large dead areas, tee boxes not level. They must have had an outing the day before as all the trash cans were overflowing. Beer cans and drinks strewn in the parking lot. Luckily we played it on a weekday rate for 33 bucks. Would absolutely not pay the standard 70 dollar rate.
Groundskeeper - Course needs a lot of attention
I have played this course at least a dozen times and it has always been in great shape. But this time I have never seen this course looks so bad. Greens were burnt fairways were horrible. I don’t know what’s happening there, but the groundskeeper needs pay attention. T boxes were some of the worst I have seen. I don’t know if this course is under new management, but I was taken by surprise after the hour drive to this course. The way I talked it up to the person I was bringing and to see how it looked. Today was an embarrassment. Please pay attention to the course and make the adjustments needed.
