Sugar Ridge Golf Club

About
One half of Sugar Ridge Golf Club is situated in extreme southwestern Ohio while the other half winds up into the Indiana hills. The border location may be unconventional but the setting provides a dramatic backdrop. The course sprawls across rolling hills that are abundant with wildlife. Wild turkey and deer have been known to roam the golf course. The layout has a few parallel fairways though the trees, and hills give each hole a completely secluded feel. The back nine feels more open than the front, but that may only be because of the ponds and lakes that come into play on many of the holes. Throughout Sugar Ridge Golf Club, golfers will find that the par 3s are fairly straightforward and the par 5s have sloping, uphill fairways that make them feel even longer. There are a few memorable par 4s, notable for both their scenery and level of difficulty.

Late Year Play
It was middle of December so most grass is dormant and frosts have killed some grass. The fairway grass fell into the aforementioned description; otherwise, this course would have received a 5-star review.
Good course but greens aerated
I play this course several times a year, even though it's a pretty far drive for me. I like the layout (aa few quirky holes) and the course is well maintained. I wish I had known the greens had recently been aerated though. It was pretty much impossible to hit a put that would run straight. The sand dressing made it like putting through mud. I will try to play at east once more this year, after the greens fill in.
Worst golf course I’ve ever played. Won’t be back.
SR
Some easy holes and some very hard for a short hitter.
Absorb Routing
Course used to be 27 holes, but the sold 9 for houses. The resulting 18 holes is one of the worst routings ever! Yes the course has a lot of hilly terrain and rolling fairways, but there are just too many head scratcher bad holes on this course to recommend playing.
This is one of those courses that you want go back and play again after every hole. A ton of elevation change from tee box to green and undulating fairways and greens. The greens were in great shape. Considering the lack of rain for the last few months - the fairways were surprisingly good. We'll be back
Played it a few times.
The course is nice. The greens were in good shape. The only problems I had was the guy swinging my clubs.
Pretty, challenging course not such good management
Lots of elevation changes on this course, and many of the holes have lethal right side misses.
Had the first tee time and as we made the turn to number 10, there was a league on the next four holes with stacked up players picking holes to shotgun to... not much chance of playing the back nine. Inside the clubhouse we were told no refund since we booked thru Golfnow, so buyer beware!!!
Interesting Course
This is a fun course to play that has many interesting holes and elevation changes. On the down side, the course is very disjointed going from #7 to #8 and it is far away. There has been a lot of work put in to improve the course and hopefully the tee boxes will get worked on next...
