Golf de Roquebrune

We played this course after a long period of dry weather both in England and France, so we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fairways - the course is clearly watered well. The reception service was friendly and efficient both in person and on the telephone. We decided to take the buggy option at E45 and given the hot conditions were glad we had done so. In cooler weather it would be perfectly possible to carry, though be prepared for hills.

Arriving as a 2 ball, we were paired with two charming members, Pierre and Philippe who were extremely welcoming and gave invaluable course advice before stopping at 9 holes. Greens were pretty consistent and deceptively quick, with some holes placed on slopes - a few 3 putts were had. Playing off the yellows, you are generally looking at narrow and sloping fairways so I would say that accuracy is at a premium over distance, the course not being particularly long.

- both first and second cut of the rough were longer than we are used to, though I have not played enough in France to know if this is a general difference or specific to this course.

- the buggies are GPS controlled and will cut out on you if you miss a marker, which we did a couple of times by accident. You need to reverse back into the controlled area

Clubhouse was very welcoming and the view from the restaurant terrace looked spectacular, though we only stopped for a drink outside the main bar.

Would play this course again.
