Cattail Crossing Golf & Winter Club
About
Located just five minutes northwest of Edmonton, Cattail Crossing Golf & Winter Club (formerly konwn as Hunters Green Golf Club) is spread across gently rolling terrain accented with a smattering of mature trees. At just over 6,500 yards from the back tees, the golf course doesn't use length to intimidate. The plentiful water hazards serve that purpose. Golfers will have to contend with water on 11 holes and your golf management skills will be tested with each one. Several holes present a difficult choice between going for it and laying up, a difference that could be between making par or adding multiple strokes. There are several tricky holes but the golf course isn't overly punishing for the high handicapper. The wide fairways offer some room for error. There is also a driving range available at Cattail Crossing Golf & Winter Club.

A little disappointing
We've had a lot of rain so far this summer so it's not the course's fault but one of the holes was waterlogged and was closed. There was no price adjustment or anything to account for this. The golf cart GPS was intermittent, failing to advance from hole to hole and getting stuck on non-playing messages. The greens were being top dressed and there was no compensation for this inconvenience. The course is decent enough for the price, but there should be some adjustment when things are not 100%
Rubber Boots
I know it has been wet in the area but this course was almost unplayable in some areas. After this weekend I suspect it will be unplayable in at least half the fairways. Hazards are about 15-20 % larger than normal. The course itself appears to have very poor drainage. Again no marshals out to enforce pace of play.
Decent
Course itself was in best shape of season. Inexplicably staff had everyone starting on 10. Pace was quite slow for a Monday. I actually wasn’t told it was a back start so I went out as normal. Probably why I was 1:17 front and 2:36 on the back.Marshall was out but really didn’t do anything to speed up pace of play.
Not worth the $$
Charged an extra $30 per person for a golf cart that was broken. Greens are horrendous!
Smelly
Not sure why it smells so bad out there, but the odor is extreme and a huge turn off to play there for me, however it is a great course
Could be better
Fairways in horrible shape. Almost better to play it intentionally out of rough. Normally in better shape. Greens in decent shape. No Marshall at all on course to monitor pace of play. Holes all over the course left open from doing irrigation projects. Some on green aprons and in high play area spots. My ball actually ended up in a hole beside the green on 8. Overall could be better.
Good value for the money
Course is in spring shape and will be better in a couple of weeks. Aerated fairways and some standing water/mud//snow. Wasn’t too busy as pace of play was great. Decent value for the money.
Late April Golf
We were playing at the end of April so you can imagine that the course was not quite ready for summer. Golf having said that the layout is great. The greens are obviously well maintained and once spring actually shows up and they’re cutting them. I’m sure they’ll be lovely. The clubhouse staff and in particular the starter were all super welcoming. We had a great and in particular the starter we’re all super welcoming. We had a great time.
Smoky day
Fun track that is great for high to mid handicap players. Par 3's always offer a challenge. Probably need to monitor some of there tournaments though, loose garbage around the tee boxes and many unrepaired pivots. Overall, great price when you find a discount.
Good but could be better
Some area such as cart paths have drainage issues. A course Marshall would likely help pace of play.
