Bay Valley Hotel & Resort
About
Bay Valley Resort & Conference Center is situated in the heart of the Great Lakes Region of Bay City. Desmond Muirhead designed the golf course in 1973. The traditional layout is characterized by its very large, fast greens. Water is a prominent feature on the course, coming into play on 13 holes. The golf course is also well bunkered, but there are only rare occasions where you'll have to carry a bunker in order to reach the green, and it is quite forgiving even if your shots are short. The terrain is mostly flat, making it a pleasant golf course to walk. It's not the most formidable test, but it's an excellent option for advanced players looking for a casual round or beginners who want some practice. Bay Valley's playability makes it ideal for tournaments and group outings as well.

Alot better than last year
The tees were a bit hard. Maybe need more water. Some of the greens were spotted but for the price they are charging not bad condition.
Solid Value - Slow Pace
For the value the course is in great condition. Unfortunately the pace of play was horrible. 5+ hours to play 18 is unacceptable. Better time management and enforcing faster pace of play was needed.
Exceptional value for a course back on the rise
This course clearly had its heyday back in the 80s and 90s and went through quite the downturn. Fortunately, there are new owners who are putting money and effort into the course and resort the greens are exceptional especially this early into the season. The course layout is spectacular and provides a challenge from all tees. Seems like the chorus can get a little muddy at times, but I have confidence that this will continue to improve as the weather does as well. Played here three or four times already this season and have been incredibly impressed with the value. I have no doubt the price will soon go up as people realize how great it is.
Improving
First and most importantly, the greens were perfect-smooth and fast. A treat tour on. Fairways were good. Several staff working on the sand traps - huge improvement Tee boxes were ok. Really impressed and glad to see all the improvements.
Bounce Back Year
Management put a lot of money into fixing this course up. Outside of the wet spots, course was in great shape. Now that it's back on GolfNow, I'll be golfing here at least a few times a month.
You can already see a difference
Played it in the midst of days when we were getting tons of rain, so it wouldn’t be fair to review the overall course conditions. What was impressive were the greens. In the end, if the fairways and roughs continue to get the attention that the greens are already are, then the course is worth playing.
Doug knows how to run a program/course and motivate employees. Things are looking up for a course whose layout has long been fun for golfers in the Tri-Cities when properly cared for.
Course was in good shape. Greens were outstanding this course has character. Love what the new ownership team is doing.
Beware You Get What You Pay For
Course was in OK condition. They must not water to often. Got behind a guy and looked like his grandson and they would not let our two some pass. Waited every hole for at least 5 minutes.
score of the deal for only seven dollars so what the heck wife and I played it on Friday the 13th and some rain nice track around the condos past for
Wife and I played this course Friday the 13th and with all my discounts on golf now and what not I only paid seven dollars can you believe that for two of us crazy but anyway this course is past his prime it’s a nice layout but conditions are kind of horrible wife only played the front nine. I played all 18 but yeah there’s needs to be a lot of work and a lot of money thrown into this place. It’s just not in great shape at all the layout is great but it’s a 50 year old Corson they let it go.
Like I said the course itself the layout is very nice all the length that you want but the greens tease fairways are just not good shape. Just put it that way politely, if you can score a good deal I would play it but unless they put some money into this course I don’t see it holding on the hotel itself. It’s not very busy either but I could tell the pro came in at 9:15 why we had the first teatime of the day at 9 o’clock, so what’s that show you
Beautiful course
Haven't played this course in years. We really enjoyed it. We will be back. Great value.
Needs a greenskeeper...applications welcome.
It was a nice weekend, the greens has not been cut or rolled. That surface was rough. Oh, and those "bucking" golf carts! This is not the Bay Valley of old.
Andy
I really like playing this golf course, cart paths needs
help!
Could be an absolutely awesome course if they took care of their greens and tees
This course has a beautiful lay out and nice scenery for being within the city. But the greens are absolutely fried dust comes off the greens when you chip up and no one seems to repair their ball marks. Tees are pretty beat up finding a level spot to hit from is rough. But the price is fair and the location is convenient I’ll return, just wish they would fix their greens and tees
Not what it used to be
Bay Valley used to be a beautiful and well maintained course. It’s in a lot better shape than last year but it still needs help. A lot of the bunkers have stuff growing in them and the greens have a lot of dead spots. For $25 it’s a good deal, but wouldn’t pay more than that to play it. The layout will always be a favorite of mine
