Golfer Reviews
No stupid holes
Many courses have great conditions and excellent greens, but many times they put in what I refer to as stupid holes.
Holes that you have to be a PGA player to even think to par or go 1 over. This course had none of these. It was narrow and challenging, but within limitations.
Great job, great maintenance and vary friendly stall.

Challenging course, great condition
Went out mid-week mid-day and had the course to myself. Could not believe there weren't more people playing this one. Excellent operation. Course was in great condition. Fairways were cut short, rough was decent length (very thick around the greens). Bunkers had good sand. Tee boxes were flat. Signage was a bit confusing, especially since they had us start from hole 10.
You need to be accurate off the tee as just about every hole has marsh or forests that penalize you if you miss. Lots of carries required over marsh. You need to be accurate with your approach shots too, greens are undulating, narrow, with tricky pin locations. This is not a course that a beginner golfer would appreciate.
GPS was a bit annoying, there were ads being spammed constantly. Carts were comfortable but felt a little cramped. This is the first course that wanted you to sign a waiver to use their cart GPS. Had the most diverse food menu I have seen at a golf course GPS cart, and they sent someone out to deliver your food. Food was excellent.
Terrific Course
I was thinking about the nicest course I’ve ever played and I think this is it!. Beautiful and challenging. It is definitely the nicest course I have played for the price. The staff was super pleasant and helpful from the pro shop to the restaurant.
The Medalist is a golfing gem hiding outside of Marshall, MI
Great Course! The greens are always a little tricky to read. Nice Clubhouse, decent beer selection with a patio overlooking the 18th green.
Extremely Slow Paced
Beautiful course but very disappointed with the pace. A tournament was played one hole ahead of me and I had to wait with a group of 3 others about 10 minutes per hole . I had to quit after 10 holes because it was not fun anymore. I did get a partial refund which I appreciate but still bothered me for not having a good time. I'll may play it again but this time I'll call ahead to be sure this won't happen again.
A Gem
My wife and I played the course enroute from Venice Fl to Canadian Lakes, MI. I had played the courses 30 years with a guys outing. I found the course very playable, well maintained and as interesting as I recalled. We played with two younger men from Lansing, who were Terrific playing partners .
The staff were friendly, welcoming and accommodating throughout the day.
We will keep this gem on our bucket list.
Beautiful!
This course is very beautiful and very humbling! Requires a thought out tee shot on most holes, greens were near perfect! Firm but very receptive. Not every hole is a driver hole and use the gps on the carts to plan out your shots. You can touch the screen at different points to see how far that is from you. Something I didn’t learn until 16… overall will play again and recommend!
PACE OF PLAY
We started at 1018am. At 11 am we were on hole 2. 2 five some of members. Asked to play through and they straight up said no they had other groups in front of them. IT started raining on hole 8 and it was 112pm. 3 hours for 8 holes. Never again. 70$ to play an ok course at a terrible pace. No rain check nothing. Was told I knew it was going to rain.
Try Gull Lake courses cheaper and friendlier. This is a members course only.
