Average course
Greens and parts of fairways were in good condition, but parts of the fairways were terrible (dead).
Course seemed very busy as I think they had outing or league behind us.
Course was busy and they had a league or outing just behind us. This did not cause any issues. The course even with our extremely dry summer was in very nice shape. Pace of play was good. I like their layout. My biggest complaint was I could not find 100, 150 or 200 yard markets so for me it was longer hitting shots as I was guessing distances on all approaches except the power threes. Still all and all I would and will play here again.
Love this course
The course has a great layout, greens are great and smooth and quick.
Good value.
Booked on GN for $57 for 2 playing 18 with a cart. I would pay that price again. It’s a typical public course. Some of the tee boxes look like the surface of the of the moon but the fairways were cut nice and the greens were solid and in good shape. I hope it’s a one off but there was a 4 some holding up 4 single players and the two of us. Could have easily got in the round in under 3 hours. Took just over 4. But when you have three carts sitting on a tee box waiting, what do you expect. This was a Tuesday morning. Pace was so slow I had to kinda warm up and stretch before teeing off on the back. Other than the pace it was a nice average muni, good staff, decent clubhouse, beer prices were good, the course generally in great shape except some cratered tee boxes. For that price I will definitely drive the hour to play there again. It’s a good mid point for me and my son in law to meet up. We both enjoyed the day. It was hot, it was slow, but just fire up a cigar find shade and wait your turn. We will definitely play there again.
They have made a LOT very nice improvements to the course and the greens and fairways are in great shape.
Visiting from Savannah GA
We are up visiting my wife’s grandma in Clio Michigan her house is about 10 minutes down the road. I just googled golf courses near me and came across Briar Ridge. It was an amazing track and everyone was very friendly.
Briarridge
Nice course great price. We were paired up with another group and I do not think it was necessary but they have maximized every time time.$$$
Favorite course to play
They do a great job keeping the course maintained. This is our favorite course to play! The staff is always friendly and we can always get right in to play!
Busy
I think every hole on the course was full. Four and a half hours for a round..
Fun course
I have played BriarRidge several times. I will continue playing it because the staff is exceptional and the course is fun to play.
Pace of play is terrible
Teed off at 10:34am on a Tuesday. Everything went fine until the turn, a local threesome jumped in front of me. Two of them were wearing tee shirts one had cargo shorts on. ( improper golf attire) they played from the forward tees and made it a point to spend as much time chatting as possible before hitting their shots. This continued right up to hole #15. As I rounded the corner one of the threesome was fishing for balls in the pond in front of the tee box. The other two “Golfers” were 200 yards down the fairway chatting with the foursome in front of them. When they moved on to #16 I hit my tee shot . I hit me second shot just shy of the green. At that point a ball landed within ten yards of me. The guy behind me had hit his approach shot. As he rolled up I asked him if I was going too slow for him. He never responded but his female companion (who was not playing) stated he came in hot. I picked up my ball and left. I drove 25 miles to play this course and it was a waste of my time and money. There’s no Marshall to monitor the locals who seem to think they own the course. I won’t be back and I wouldn’t advise anyone to play this course.
