Umstead Pines Golf & Swim Club opened for play in 1962 but it was known as Willowhaven Country Club until 2007. The layout has a traditional design that measures 6,442 yards from the back tees. The length is modest but the golf course is challenging in other ways. The front nine provides a gentle, player-friendly start, but don't get too comfortable. The back nine manages to incorporate some holes with good length and there is also plenty of variety. Strategically placed bunkers come into play throughout and there are some subtle but tricky undulations. The golf course is gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence but the risk-reward opportunities will appeal to players of all skill levels. Four sets of tees make Table Rock Golf Club even more appealing for a wide range of players.
