Hapuna Is Struggling
I've always liked Hapuna but this recent visit was surprising. Course conditions are not very good...some fairways were more weeds than grass. Overall the course was very shabby, except for the greens which thankfully were in great shape. There is no way I would pay full price to play here anymore. It might have been a coincidence but the players I were seeing this day were not avid golfers and some of them I talked with, (because we had severe slow play), didn't seem to mind the shabby conditions or the slow play...they were just there for their resort round of golf and to kill some time. The marshal came around and apologized for the extremely slow play but he did nothing to alleviate it. We had three groups on every single tee box...lots of socializing. I would like to see Hapuna invest in the course and let it be the really fun and beautiful course it can be...either that or lower the price below $100 and just know you'll have a long, uninspiring round.
Slow Play Wreaks a Fun Course
I always enjoy the course layout. Conditions of the greens and fairways are in good shape. Practice area is great, despite the limited flight balls. What hurts this course is the pace of play, which can vary from acceptable (3.25 hours) to horrible (5.5 hours). Rangers rarely are seen and people who should not be playing this course because of its difficulty make all the other golfers suffer as well. I will continue coming here but try and be more careful when I tee it up- early mornings.
Marshall
Course is great but over priced. Not high end. Needs to honor the Golf Hawaii Card.
The Fousome in front of us would not wave us through and no one was on the course to move them along. We were a threesome and had to wait on every shot after hole #2. No amenities at the clubhouse.
In other words poorly equipped for the price.
There would be more play and more people buying food and drink if you honored Golf Hawaii Card.
Terrific Test
Hapuna can be a slow golf course, but today the pace was great. I always enjoy the layout and never tire of the gorgeous views. It's a challenging track from the blues, but the Orange markers are very fair for most players. However, this is not a course for high handicap players- lots of slope and uneven lies.
Course in great shape
Love this course. Greens played slow but we’re in beautiful shape. Play was very slow.
Up and down course
We enjoyed playing this course. It is laid out across hilly ground with challenging up hill and down hill shots as well side slope lies. It is a fun course with great views of the ocean.
Paradise Golfer
LOVE the new greens!! We were Covid restricted for last 3 years so coming back to our favourite course with new, slower, hardly any grain greens was a nice surprise!
Always loved this course; views are amazing! Going back again today and at least 5 more rounds til we have to return to snow!
Terrific experience
Love the golf course & great staff. Superior pace of play & the course is in great shape
Golf Hapuna
Great course, greens are excellent! The views are a bonus.
Challenging Course
While the course is not that physically long on the card, the undulations, wind and tightness of the layout make this a good test of golf. Course conditions were immaculate and pace of play was fast. With that being said there weren't many people playing; this probably has something to do with the rack rate for the green fee. We were lucky to get the rate we did on Golf Now, otherwise at $200 plus we would probably have given it a miss. Will definitely play here again if I can get a good rate.
