A Great First Experience!
My friend and I had the pleasure of playing a round at Old Dutch Mill Golf Course this past Monday, and I honestly can't compliment the experience enough—it was truly fantastic from start to finish.
The staff set the tone immediately. From the moment we checked in, we were greeted with a friendly, welcoming vibe that made us feel right at home.
The course itself was in great condition, especially considering how dry the weather has been lately. The grounds crew is clearly doing an amazing job. The layout is beautiful and challenging, offering great views of the river and plenty of strategic water hazards on several holes to keep you focused.
But what really sets Old Dutch Mill apart are its unique features. It's probably the only course I've ever played with a Revolutionary War cemetery nestled right in the middle of the grounds, which is incredibly cool and adds a sense of history. Plus, keep an eye out—there's an active bald eagle's nest visible off of one of the holes!
And finally, you have to try the food at the turn. Do yourself a favor and get one of their breakfast sandwiches; it's the perfect mid-round fuel.
I was extremely pleased with the overall experience. We will definitely return to Old Dutch Mill and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a well-maintained course with exceptional staff and some truly unique sights.
Don’t bother playing this place
The course conditions are horrible. Except for the greens, you will need to search to find grass to play from. The fairways are like concrete and the tee boxes are torn up. Play somewhere else.
Liked the course
We were doubled booked,so the front nine was pretty slow ,once we made the turn it opened up. The course is pretty rough, but the greens were ok!they have some pretty cool holes.we will go back
Rough Conditions
I’ve played this course many times over the past few years and always enjoyed it. Unfortunately the rain has taken its toll on the fairways, the tee boxes were full of weeds and the greens were marked up pretty bad. Bad year for the groundskeeper to go on vacation. I hope the course bounces back but desperately needs some TLC.
Course Could Use Some Work.... Pro Shop Staff Takes the Cake
I think most reviews of the course are pretty accurate. Youll find burned out fairways, places where water collected and killed the grass. Some tee boxes will be manicured, others look like regular grass. Some greens will be cut and rolled, others will be slow.
This could be a great course! It requires some effort and $$$.
However, the pro shop staff was awful. The woman working made us wait to check in while she talked to bar patrons. We had to ask to check in. When checking in, she couldnt find out reservation. I said it was booked through GolfNow. Still no... So she goes to put us in the system, asks how many are playing and how we're paying. I said we were booked for 2pm, 2 golfers, pre-paid. "Well I dont see that, youll have to show me". OK, let me pull out my phone and pull up the reservation, no problem. Her response was for 9? I said, no the booking is 18. She replied, thats the price for 2 people and 18 holes?! As if I was lying to her... She basically questioned out integrity the moment we walked in. She was rude, unfriendly, just terrible for customer service. I would NOT recommend simply because of this experience. It essentially ruined out first 5 holes until we shook it off.
Entire course needs irrigated, very dry!
First time playing 18 holes here and my overall assessment would be “meh”. I think the course has a-lot of potential if improvements are made. It has a lot of character with a small river, bridges, elevated tee boxes, tree lined fairways, & a driving range. Not a bad course, just needs work. I’ve played many courses within the area (50 mile radius) and would rate Old Dutch Mill as “average” or “slightly below average”. On a scale of 1-10 i would give this course a 4.5 - 5.0. I will give the course another play in the future and see if my opinion changes.
PROS:
• course layout is nice w/ tree lined fairways & water hazards.
• challenging greens
• affordable cost
• friendly staff
• driving range
CONS:
• dried out fairways & greens
• gravel cart path which was loud & extremely bumpy with potholes throughout
• small clubhouse
• no gps on carts
• small parking lot
• tee boxes covered in unrepaired & dried out divots, not to mention littered with broken tees
Excelente
The best course around at least one of them. Ohio area .
Quick round mid day
Played in between their morning and evening leagues.
Very friendly staff, pro shop accommodated me immediately. They care about customers!
Spring conditions after a lot of rain recently. Course was green and forgiving, and some of the greens were very fast.
Overall, an extremely enjoyable round. Many challenging holes, and I appreciated those shorter ones too, as a break.
Cart paths were very bumpy as were some of the grass areas. Many greens are mounded so be careful with the edges, and some greens had a lot of break in them. Nice variety for any golfer.
Thank you so much for a great time! I’ll be back.
