Fun course, some holes are funky, and greens need to be mowed much closer
We enjoyed the front nine much more than the back. The elevation change on the 16th(par 3) is unreasonable.
Course is in disappointing shape, rude staff member.
A friend of mine and I drove in from Portland on a Sunday afternoon, with a pre paid tee time at 4:22. When we arrived to check in, we were asked "how fast do you play?" by the kid working in the pro shop. He was visibly frustrated that we were there, seeing as how he wanted to close up shop and be gone by 7:30. We even had to talk him into letting us use a cart, because he didn't want to put any more away. Of all my golf course experiences, I've never experienced a "welcome" quite like that. Unbelievable.
As far as the course goes.....what happened!? The front nine is in decent shape, but the back is horrendous! I'm not someone who is all that picky about the courses I play, but I was shocked at how they've seemed to let go of taking care of the place. The new clubhouse is great, but that will only go so far with the course in that kind of shape.
Alderbrook is in a beautiful setting and has great potential. My hope is that this was an isolated experience and others were treated with more hospitality. That being said, I wouldn't go back because of the conditions on the back nine and the way we were treated.
The club house/ restaurant is outstanding. Staff is very friendly. Course is rough!
I played this 1920's course before it was under new management . There was no expense spared on the beautiful club house. The course is fun and beautiful. Although very rough in many areas. The fairways and greens are not groomed as our OGA course where we live. In some ways that makes for an interesting golf challenge. We will be back! Wait until you experience the back nine with the vertical hole! I saw it and said are you kidding me!
A Gem in the making
Played the course on an ugly rainy day, so the course was very wet and had some standing water off the fairways. Course has undergone major revisions to make it a full length course so fairways and greens are young and need time to mature.you can tell by the facilities that the new owners are serious about this course and are there to stay. Clubhouse and restaurant/bar are spectacular, food is first class. This course is a real gem and will be one of the best on the coast once it's reworking matures a little.
not worth it
The greens are better this year no weeds, the fairway rough bumpy and over all $45 is to much to pay..I however got a deal from Golf Now for $11 for 18 holes..wish was worth it, but honestly would not pay more than $15 to golf here..
Great value
Great value for what I paid. Fairways needed attention and also some of the rough. Back nine was poorly marked but the course is in a beautiful location. Great staff and outstanding clubhouse and very good food.
Enjoyable,coming around.
Played with our grandchildren, and enjoyed the course. The greens were in much better shape than last time we played. Need to cut the greens a little closer. The course is coming around, although, there are a couple of funky holes. The thirteenth being one of them. Very awkward design! Overall we enjoyed the course, and would return using golf now, otherwise, the course is over priced.
Very nice coast course.
Reworking holes and new green being installed resulted in lower rating about condition. Bent grass greens were a bit of a challenge. Very good play times for a Friday tee off. Gorgeous views. Climbing up to 15th green was very difficult for an old guy like me.
Poorly groomed and not worth the standard fee
Three of us played a 10 O'clock tee time which was great because we only paid $20 a piece. The weather was rainy, but it cleared up around 13. The course stayed soupy through all of the play. The first nine holes were tough, but fun. The back nine was beautiful and challenging. The grass however was not fun because the greens were fairway height if not higher and the fairway was second cut rough height. I felt like I was playing golf in the nineteenth century. Although playable hole 15 was a score ruining hole. 16 was worth the score from the previous hole. Hole 13 had a temporary pin with an almost non existent green. We were not able to use putters due to the height of the green. Fortunately a wedge worked out. I might play this course again in the Summer, but I am not sure it would be worth paying their standard green fee of $45.
slow greens
Greens very, very slow. Course fine at golf now price, but overpriced at regular rate.
Fun course to play with elevation changes on numerous holes
This course is is traditional layout with tree lined fairways and undulating greens. It's not an extremely long course but accuracy is needed to stay out of the trees. The greens were slower than normal but were in very good shape. Half of the holes are fairly level while the other half have moderate to severe elevation changes. Fun course to play when at the coast.
