Trust us, good public golf in Oregon expands beyond the Bandon Dunes universe. Bend in central Oregon, for example, is equally as compelling of a golf destination with multiple resorts, some bargain public golf courses and a fun downtown of breweries and restaurants along the Deschutes River.
GolfPass releases a Top 20 Public Golf Courses in Oregon every March thanks to YOU. We create our annual Golfers' Choice lists by curating the reviews submitted by everyday golfers. We use GolfPass' Ratings Index logic that weights newer reviews and combine it with a course's subcategory averages.
Each course needed at least one review and at least some public access to qualify. Unfortunately, without a single review in 2024, the reversible course at Silvies Valley Ranch wasn't eligible. If you think it belongs on our list, make sure you leave a review next time you tee it up.
We make our Golfers' Choice best-of lists user friendly. Simply click on the photo of each course to learn more about the facility or to book a tee time (in most cases).

Green fee: $43-$58
What they're saying: The course received 3 five-star reviews without comment in 2024. -
Bar Run Golf and RV Resort
Green fee: $65-$85
What they're saying: "This is an amazing course right outside of Roseburg, Oregon. They built the course on reclaimed grounds. It has holes on it that are very, very hard and some that are pretty easy. It runs right along the south Umpqua river so there is generally a very nice breeze. The RV Resort also has great amenities, including a pool area. If you don’t have an RV, you can rent the awesome mini homes. If you haven’t had a chance to play this course, you’ve been missing out!" - GolfPass Reviewer -
Tetherow
Green fee: $95-$150
What they're saying: "It's an extremely difficult 2nd shot and putting golf course. You need to see it more than once to understand the nuance on and around the greens. I personally loved the challenge. Can't wait to be back." - handymn -
Eagle Crest - Resort Course
Green fee: $49-$63
What they're saying: "Course was in great shape and got to play a quick afternoon round in 3 hours. Will definitely be back!" - Nathan2125956 -
The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club - North Course
Aloha, OregonSemi-PrivateGreen fee: $39-$89
What they're saying: "Really enjoyed the round. Great layout and greens. Appreciated the varied holes and excellent course conditions. Highly recommend playing it if you want to have some fun!" - rpontonik -
Eagle Point Golf Course
Green fee: $42-$49
What they're saying: "I happened to be in the area for work and booked for 40 dollars with cart. Practice facilities are great. Course condition is great. The course does have very unique features and as a first timer (I) needed my playing partners to help out some. Highly recommend having an app going to show the course layout as you play. Felt like I could have (paid) 3x as much to play the same course. Nearly no one out there on a Wednesday afternoon either." - jrfalvey -
Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club - Ghost Creek Course
North Plains, OregonPublicGreen fee: $40-$105
What they're saying: "Greens were insanely fast. Pace of play was a little slow because of cart path only, but if you have a pushcart it was awesome. Fairways were dry and you could get roll. Would highly recommend." - Caveman503 -
Meadow Lakes Golf Course
Green fee: $36-$55
What they're saying: "Meadow Lakes is a relatively a flat course with water on every hole. While the fairways are generous an errant shot can easily find a pond. The greens! The greens are both fast and true. They are the best feature of the course. This course is fun to play over and over. The golf shop staff are friendly and helpful, and the cafe is more than adequate with darn good food." - bobybob503 -
Crooked River Ranch Golf Club
Green fee: $33-$85
What they're saying: "We took a trip to eastern Oregon to play golf and get away, and were thrilled with the Crooked River course. It was a beautiful day, the course was in very good shape, and the surrounding terrain was a fun change from the courses we typically play. The canyon views and the the water features throughout the course made for a perfect day on the course!" - GolfPass Reviewer -
The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club - South Course
Aloha, OregonSemi-PrivateGreen fee: $35-$80
What they're saying: "For the middle of winter in the Pacific Northwest the fairways were taken care of and greens were rolling very well. There was mud in the deep rough so as long as you keep it in play, you're all good. A great course to play in the offseason." - Caveman503 -
Juniper Golf Club
Green fee: $41-$93
What they're saying: "From super friendly and accommodating staff to an excellent course layout and views ... (you) can't go wrong if (you're a) beginner or more experienced golfer." - siennalarene -
The Mook at Alderbrook
Green fee: $25-$56
What they're saying: "It was a good round at a great value! The greens were in great shape and the fairways were good for coastal areas. I would definitely play again." - Lurch1234 -
Juniper Preserve - Nicklaus Course
Bend, OregonPublic/ResortGreen fee: $99-$200+
What they're saying: "First time playing Pronghorn and it did not disappoint. Weather was perfect and course conditions were phenomenal. Highly recommend playing if you haven't already!" - Nathan2125956 -
Charbonneau Golf Club
Green fee: $24-$42
What they're saying: "Course is in great condition. Greens are in excellent shape. Nice course when short on time or (for a) practice round." - nochzilla -
Bandon Dunes Golf Resort - Pacific Dunes Course
Green fee: $170-$420
What they're saying: "Something about Pacific Dunes just speaks to me more than the other courses at Bandon Dunes. Maybe it's the back-to-back par 3s near the ocean? Maybe it's the two coastal holes that cozy right up to the cliffs? Whatever it is, inject it straight into my brain. Although it's difficult, I could play Pac Dunes every day until the end of days and not tire of it." - JasonDeeganGA -
Bandon Dunes Golf Resort - Bandon Trails Course
Green fee: $170-$420
What they're saying: "All of Bandon's courses play along the water except Trails. That makes this experience an outlier, a different look and feel that many love. There are a few quirks along the way - tee shots over roads, an emergency shuttle ride up to the 14th tee and a 14th hole that might be too extreme for its own good. Despite these handicaps, it's one of the best rounds at Bandon. Don't miss it." - JasonDeeganGA -
Bandon Dunes Golf Resort - Bandon Dunes Course
Green fee: $170-$420
What they're saying: "Bandon's original golf course is the resort's best to some people. It's a great course, but I'd put it third or fourth in my book. It's strength are the three finishing holes." - JasonDeeganGA -
Bandon Crossings Golf Course
Green fee: $35-$101
What they're saying: "I played this course because it has been on the GolfPass Best of Oregon list. We played on a Sunday afternoon and the course was practically deserted! The first few and last few holes are links style similar to Bandon Dunes. The tee boxes were lush. The fairways were like carpet and the greens rolled very true. I played 3 courses at Bandon Resort and the course conditions were far worse than this course!! This is the course that Bandon Resort employees come to play. We finished after the clubhouse had closed for the day so I cannot comment on the off-course amenities. The halfway house was closed that afternoon as well. The staff were very friendly. Overall, a very good value for 1/4 the price of the resort up the road." - David3274256 -
Eagle Crest - The Ridge
Green fee: $35-$45
What they're saying: "Some fairways seemed little over watered but excellent course and was in amazing shape. (I) can't wait to play it again." - cmonburg

This is the worst ranking list i have seen. Obviously they have never been to Oregon and are only going off information given to them by someone trying to market their own courses
Hi Robert, It's probably best to understand the ranking system before you hate on it. It is taken from thousands of reviews of courses in Oregon. Famous courses can get docked for slow pace of play, bad service, no value (too expensive), so that's why you see such a mix of courses. It's not about the "best" course architecturally. It's about the "best" experiences related to how much the course costs and your expectations about what the course should provide based on that cost. Thanks for reading and commenting.
