This course is great
This course is a hidden gem in Wescoville PA. Would definitely recommend.
Shepherd Hills Golf
Shepherd Hills is an hour drive for us but well worth it. We enjoy everything about the course for an average golfer and considering the lack of rain this season, it’s in good shape. The new golf carts have been great.
Great Pace and price. Incredible-looking after-golf options. OK golf
Booked as a single and played in a 3-ball group which burned though this course in not much over three hours. Best place of play I've experienced all Summer, on any course within 50 miles of this place.
The greens and tees were in good shape. The fairways were generally good, too, but areas just off the fairways are starting to become sparse and hardpan. That makes for some tough bounces - but you're not supposed to be hitting to those places anyway.
I found the layout to lack a bit of variety. I'd guess eighty percent of the par-fours were mostly-straight, 350 yards in length, plus or minus ten-or twenty-yards here-or-there, and without interesting hazards or layups. The par threes were all 150-160 yards, IIRC.
The options for hanging out and having a beer and burger and beer after your round looked *great* - but I confess to not having sampled them.
Diamond in the rough
Drove an hour one way to play it and was pleasantly surprised. Fun course
First Time here
Took my wife who is new to golf. Course was appropriate for her, yet playable for me. She enjoyed that the spacing between the groups was enough that she did not feel that she was holding anyone up and did not have the next group pushing us.fairways and greens were in excellent shape, but the rough was a little high which impacted her game but she still enjoyed playing the course. The grille had a variety of good food at reasonable prices. We would travel there again.
All good
Nice course in very good condition. Great staff. Definitely not a beginner course. I will be back. ☃️
Greens Were Fertilized
I've played this course before and it's fine. When I played yesterday we noticed the greens had been fertilized or something. It was raining which didn't help but as the ball rolled across the greens it was picking up this fertilizer or whatever it was, slowing the ball down even more. When we got to the 4th home there was a guy in front of us with 3 smalls kids all playing. I'm assuming he would have let us through, but with the rain, we called it a day after 3 holes. It was a great deal for $23 after fees on GolfNow.
Review from May 27th
The course was in very nice condition. The staff were very friendly. Very good and
SLOW
Arrived 1/2 hour before tee-time and nobody was in the clubhouse to check in with. When the lady did come in, she said there were no carts to send us out with. Heard rumblings from
others waiting to head out that the backlog was due to a group that took 5.5 hours to finish their round. When some carts did start rolling in, another lady felt it necessary to hose off and dry the carts and was sending out the wrong group based on tee-times. Once on the course, it was a very well maintained course but ran into several groups WALKING the cart path that seemed to think it was a walking path. Totally bummed out on this setup, but; at the same time, pleased that I was outside golfing, but very frustrating to say the least!!!
Great course
Played here many times before and again it was a great experience. I think the course was better this time around. The grounds was in great condition
