Nice course in excellent condition
I am a local and regular player at this course. Course is in excellent condition right now. Greens near perfect. Real good price for the quality of play esp. since I booked an early 0900 tee time through Golfnow and got the discounted price. I play various courses here in the black hills and this is an attractive course. My only comment is there are really no dog leg holes they are all straight on. So not too much variety off the tee. Some of the greens are challenging though.
Fun, Scenic 9 hole course
Fun 9 hole course with nice views . Enjoyed the rock outcroppings on several holes. Greens had character and the course was in good condition.
If you are looking for a quick 9 before or after seeing the areas attractions, I recommend this course.
Pleasant Surprise
In Custer? Incredible course, challenging, excellent condition and great friendly staff, If in Custer, must play!
it was raining
They didn't close the coarse and they told me I had to play in the rain and cold. So I lost my money because I paid ahead of tee time through Golf now. So even though the conditions were wet and cold Rocky Knolls stayed open so they could get their money for a round that I could not play.
If that is the way this golf coarse operates, I will tell all of my golfing friends not to play at this Course.
Best 9 hole in the Black Hills
Top 9 hole course in the Hills:
This nine hole course runs around just over 3,000 yards and requires pin point accuracy off the tees. Placing you tee shot in the right location almost guarantees you the opportunity at par. However a simple misstep of the tee can make most holes some of the more challenging lies you may play.
Course offers some decent views of the Black Hills and provides a nice setting with in the ponderosa pines. The club house is ok with a simple Bar and fried food options. For better food options find great restaurants in Downtown Custer.
The guy paid $15 to Golf Now. The course didn't get a dime. If he would have been nice about it they would have given him a rain check. But it probably would have rained the next day also. The Black Hills spring was terrible. Rocky Knolls is the most beautiful 9 hole course in the Hills. Well worth playing.
