Hancock Park Municipal Golf Course

About
Hancock Park renovated and upgraded with an additional nine holes in 1996, providing locals and visitors with a full round of down-home golf. This country course features average-size fairways, numerous bunkering, and water hazards that impact play on seven holes. The greens are of average size and medium speed, with minimal undulations. A short course plays just over 6,000 yards; it is generally susceptible to low scores unless the wind is blowing, which is often the case later in the day.
Most talk about No. 2, the 355-yard par 4 that features an island green. The tee shot must be accurate here as the fairway is lined by out-of-bounds on the left and thick trees on the right.
While No. 2 is rated as the most difficult, some argue that the more challenging hole is No. 17, a 221-yard, par 3 from the back tees, which are played most often since the middle tees are a very pedestrian 5,300 yards.
Unusual for an 18-hole course, Hancock allows you to pay one green fee and play all day long.
Getting there : From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north, then continue to Lampasas for about an hour and you’ll see the course near town.

Rude staff
This course has some of the rudest people you will find. Not real friendly, and somewhat condescending. I have a gift certificate that was given to me to play here, and I am not even sure I will use it.
Great place to play
I've played this course many times and will continue to for some time. Me and some friends played on fathers Day. The course was real busy in the morning which is unusual for a Sunday morning but it was Fathers Day. Course was in great shape play was slow but this was due to so many groups, no marshal to be found, which is unusual for a weekend morning.
great golf
played this course every July for the past 15 years. Course is always in great shape (except the year it flooded). Course is fairly easy, but some holes have there own character and ball placement is important. Love the course, love the town, hope to
play there for another 15 years.
