East/North Golf Course at The Legends of Massillon
About
The Legends of Massillon offers 27 holes of championship golf. The holes are divided into three nines: East, North, and South; which can be played in different 18-hole combinations. Originally opened in 1995 as an 18-hole golf course, another nine was added with each of the three nines featuring six of the original holes and three new ones. The East/North combination has large greens and plenty of water. Water is a prominent feature on every nine, it comes into play on 22 out of the 27 holes and you'll also have more than 80 strategically placed bunkers throughout to contend with. There are four sets of tees on every nine, making it accessible for a wide range of skill levels. The Legends consistently ranks as one of the top public golf courses in Ohio.

our first pick in the area
One of the best 27 hole golf courses in Ohio each 9 has it's own feel. Plenty of water ,sand , and trees to make you think twice about your club selection. The fairways and greens are always outstanding, sand bunkers could use a little work. Multiple tee boxes for every level , every course should have a wide range of tee boxes like this,
This course in good shape
The course conditions were good overall. Greens rolled true and were average speed. Bunkers were swamped from heavy rains the previous night. The fairways and boxes were well manicured. Pace of play was good. I will play it again.
Thank you for playing The Legends of Massillon! We are glad that you thought the course was in good shape. Come back and see us soon!
Enjoyable Round.........!
I marvel at how people will spend an exorbitant amount of money on clubs, apparel and accessories but won't invest $2-3.00 on a ball mark repair tool.........?
Through no fault of the Superintendent, there were many more unrepaired ball marks than one would expect on such a nice course. Having said that, the greens roll true and are consistent with regards to speed. Fairways were in great shape and the tee boxes were in good condition.
Every staff member I encountered throughout my time was helpful, professional and amiable.
I will visit the Legends again before the 2015 Golf season concludes and recommend it to my friends.
Thank you for playing The Legends of Massillon! We are sorry about all the ball marks, but glad that you enjoyed yourself. Come back and see us again soon!
Not what it used to be
I have played this course since it opened in 1995 and it was a great course at one time. I moved to Houston in 2008 but came back this week to visit family and played Legends today. What a shame to see such a great layout go to waste. There was not one bunker that you could play out of, the greens were slow and tee to green was not well maintained. I used to love this course but the starter indicated that the city was out of money and is not supporting it like before. I will be scratching this off my list of places to play when I return. Too many other great courses in the area for the same price.
Thank you for you review. Sorry to hear that the course was not up to your expectations. If you don't mind, please send an email to thelegendsofmassillon@yahoo.com to further discuss.

This course has a great feel
The legends is a great course that challenges you but you can still have fun at the course. The staff is great and the food/beverages are great as well. It is a wonderful course!

Bet Your Legend On It
This is a nice course in terrific condition. From the tips it's very challenging but fair. No gimmicks. The greens are very subtle and you need to know which way the grain is going. Still a little damp in spots because of all the summer rain, but no standing water. A must play.
Thank you for playing Legends of Massillon! We are glad that you enjoyed the course and thought it was in good condition. Come back and see us again!
5-some :(
With all the recent rain the course played better than expected. Pace of play was not bad but still a bit disappointing since it was being dictated by a 5-some.
Thank you for playing Legends of Massillon! We do not allow 5-somes and are sorry that the rangers did not catch them. Please come back and see us again!
Nice golf trip
Well worth the trip nice course in great shape with fast greens and fast pace
Thank you for your feedback. We pride ourselves in our course conditions and are glad that you thought the greens were in great shape. Come back and see is again!
A bit steep
Bunkers had grass on a few holes but overall good condition adult beverages a little pricey but had a good time
Thank you for you feedback. We are sorry that the bunkers were not in great condition. We are currently working on them. Come back and see us again soon!
Nice course but need work on paths
The course was in good shape but the cart paths are in major need of repair. The price was ok but had some difficulty because the on line says 18 holes but then also says 9 hole time. So the value was not a great value.
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry the paths were not in good shape. We are also looking into our website to see where it can be confusing. Come back and see us!
Nice layout
Really enjoyed the course but the sand traps are bad need of work. No flowers or plants done as yet.
Nice track
Course was in very good shape, greens held and rolled true. Sand traps need some work... no, they need some sand!! They were unplayable as sand traps, and upon leaving, we saw a huge pile of sand in the parking lot. Maybe it would do more good in the traps.
Staff was great, starters were very helpful, steering us to the South nine where no one was playing instead of the North where we were scheduled.
Paid $13.00 for 18 and a cart and that's a bargain wherever, so I won't complain too loudly. Nice place overall.
course in good shape
Tees, fairways and greens in excellent shape. Bunkers were spotty. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
Playing As a Single
If you're a single and going to this course because you can get a great rate, make sure that you're fine playing by yourself. The starters will try to send you out alone, before or after your assigned tee time, but will not give you the option to play with the threesome that you should be matched up with via GOLFNOW.
I don't like playing by myself. I get bored after three or four holes. That's why, when my friends can't play, I look for GOLFNOW tee times where there are already two or three golfers signed up. I get to meet new people and almost always have a fun round. But at this course, they just don't seem to want this to happen. I won't be going back.
Singles and Golf Now
The course was in excellent condition and the weather was perfect. Low seventies, sunny.
I'm writing this review because it's often disappointing how starters, or even those at the desk, handle golfers from GolfNow or other online tee-time providers.
I was a single, the fourth and last to purchase a 12:40 tee time from GolfNow. The guy at the desk inside understood this just fine. But when I got outside to see the starter, my name was not on his list. It took a little while to get him to understand things, but we worked it out. The threesome in my group was not yet there - and were of course unknown to me - so I kept close to monitor new arrivals.
The starter, though, disappeared for 10-15 minutes while it was very busy, so he didn't match me up with my group when they arrived. The Legends is a 27-hole layout with groups starting off of three spots, and the people I was supposed to play with got to the tee without me.
It was lucky that, just before they tee'd off, the starter finally returned to tell me this, but only after I asked him. I caught up with them in time, enjoyed their company, and had a good round.
This sort of thing, though, happens too much when getting online tee times. It's usually just me with one buddy or me alone and we generally need to be paired up with another group. We understand that, and enjoy it, but too often the course employees don't seem to handle the meshing of these groups, people that don't even know what each other looks like, very well.
Perhaps some words could be passed on to those whose jobs it should be to do this, to do it a little better.
This will be on my top 10 in northeastern Ohio
If you have a slice like mine, you better bring a ball retriever, or just plan on losing a few in the water. Great course to play, well maintained.
A lovely course at a great golfnow rate
Got a $10 rate on golfnow, so decided to give this course a look. Very pleasantly surprised at the course, layout, and conditions. Greens were fast and rolling, fairways in great shape, traps, as most courses nowadays, need work ( minimal sand).
Overall, a very nice course, with many beautiful homes around its perimeter. Definitely would play the course again
Nice course
The course has gotten a lot of water lately and the greens were holding very well. Unfortunately, people have been extremely bad at repairing their pitch marks so the greens were a pock-marked mess. They still rolled quite fast but not very true.
The course is generally pretty open and scenic and everything aside from the greens was well-maintained. Pace of play was pretty slow but, then again it was a holiday so I can't blame the course for that.
Thank you for playing The Legends of Massillon! We are glad that you enjoyed your round and we had a good set of tees for you to play from. See you at the course soon!
