Poor condition course
It was disappointing the way the greens were cut. They look like they had not been cut in a couple days.
Many bare areas on the course.
Bring extra balls!
The in-bounds area is narrow and your OB shots will all be un-findable. Bring extra balls. It’s a shorter course, so leave your driver behind and concentrate on your irons game.
The fairways are shaggy and the rough is deep. Be prepared to lose your ball in plain sight and hack away with your short irons to get it out, once you find your ball.
The staff was friendly but the course maintainers got too close to our game for our comfort.
Really had a good time, but it could have been better with shorter grass.
Fun Course
Staff are wonderful. Greens aren’t the best but it makes for a fun challenge.
Course is good for the area
Due to the extreme wetness of. The course the rough was very tall and thick. Greens were in good shape and I enjoyed the round. Extremely friendly and helpful staff.I would recommend playing if you are in the area.
Fun
Great course. Great price. Very well maintained and very friendly staff. Beautiful woody area.
You’ve been warned
Do yourself a favor and absolutely do not play this “course”. I’ve played golf my entire life all around the country and I have never seen anything like this place. I honestly feel like they stole $75 dollars from me and I’ve never felt that way about golf. I mean, I get it when golf courses aren’t kept up or struggling. But this should not be open nor accept money to be played. I honestly felt like I was hitting golf balls in a field. I’d laugh but I’m irritated I wasted my money. Also, the guy in the pro shop was as high as I’ve ever seen a person and still be able to work. Looking back, that was my warning to reconsider my choice and I still did it. At least I did it so now you don’t have to… what a joke
Solid Coastal Course
Friendly staff, course was in good condition for being spring on the coast. Narrow fairways so hit the ball straight.
Needs some work
Fairways are not in good shape. Lots of potential to be a good course. Greens in good shape.
Love this course
The holes are not long. I am not a big hitter so I love that. The greens and tee boxes were nice and green and so were several fairways. Since there has been no rain for quite a while, some fairways were very dry and gave me lots of roll. It was just me today and I never did catch up to those in front. I was very pleased to have no trouble with mosquitoes. I did not see any. I noticed a couple new sand traps, especially on hole 4. That is a nice challenge. The staff were over the top nice. I’ll be back soon.
Course needs work
I’ve been coming to Long Beach for years for the summer. I’ve played the Peninsula course numerous times. Always enjoyed it. This week I was shocked at how badly the course looked. Overgrown fairways, greens with to many bad patches. What happened? Please get the course back up to par!
Side note: I booked online and pre-paid for 18 holes and it included the golf cart. The gentleman working the desk didn’t seem to know what he was doing. Kept trying to get me to pay for the cart again. I had to bring up the email to have him read it from my phone. . Even then he seemed unsure of my pre-payment. I felt like he thought I was “pulling a fast one” on him. Left me feeling angry as I headed to the first tee box. I’m assuming your computer system shows the reservation and payment. Most courses where I pre-pay I just walk in and get handed the cart keys.
I generally like this course. I don’t normally mind the summer price increase. But for the condition the course is currently in, I won’t play again this year.
Dog friendly
Very nice course. Lots of trees. So nice to be able to bring your dog!
Overall Experience
Interestingly, we booked online on last Thursday for a tee time on Monday. When we arrived, we were not on the starters tee sheet and there was a tournament scheduled. Luckily, we arrived a bit early, and the starter got us out, however, I did feel significant pressure to get out quickly, almost immediately after our arrival.
Good news is that we played 18 holes in 3 hours, but sadly the start to our experienced was much more rushed than it needed to be.
Good course to play
I play here about twice a month. The new owners are continuing to improve the course conditions. You always see the grounds crew out there working. A couple of greens are still recovering from the winter damage, but all in all the course is in good shape. If you're in the area, it's worth stopping by and playing a round.
