First time
A group of friends and I played while visiting Broken Bow. The course views were beautiful and the fairways were pristine. Looked like they just re did the greens, which were in good condition. There were a couple greens that still had sand but other than that great condition!
Would definitely recommend to anyone traveling to Oklahoma!
This is my home course that I’ve played since I was a little kid. It’s a Beautiful area and the course layout is awesome! You truly will never find another like it. Tree lined and narrow fairways, demands accuracy off the tee as well as shot shaping, greens are demanding with lots of slopes, and a lot of elevation changes throughout the golf course. They work with a small budget and crew, but they do the best they can to keep it looking good and in good shape. This past year as many have noted went through a really tough time with the greens, on the positive side they’re putting money back into the place and have planted new champion Bermuda greens and have started a big renovation, removing trees from around greens to help the grass, along with much more that is planned for the future! Excited for it to reopen and see this place at its best!
Terrible greens
Don’t waste your money. The greens were not playable. Like putting on concrete.
Little Augusta!
You can’t find a course like this—tucked way back in the woods with fairways lined with pine trees—anywhere else in Oklahoma. It’s unique and charming. Once they get new greens, which they’re working on, it will be even better. I enjoyed Little Augusta, and will be going back!
What happened
This used to be a great course in SE Oklahoma. The clubhouse staff was friendly and helpful but it looks like the greens keeping staff has left their job. Almost no grass on the greens. Hard packed mud instead. The layout has always been good, cut into the forest, with even some beautiful lake views. This is not worth the time until management decides to hire a greens keeping staff. Stay away until the locals call you back.
Horrible greens
It's clearly apparent their funding was cut. The "greens" were literally rolled, hard-packed mud and grass. There were large black spots "clay" on the greens. In 40 years of playing golf, I have never seen anything like their greens. If you demand at least a decent green, you may want to wait until these come back or are repaired.
Once the greens recover, this would be a great place to play...short and tight. Great scenery, but currently in a maintenance phase I hope.
Challenging & Fun
This is a government financed course in the Beaver's Bend National Forest, so the condition is not like a private club. The carts are old and loud, and the club house is tiny. The condition of the course is municipal like, the greens were patchy when I played.
BUT it is a Beautiful area. The course is fun, but the small fairways and hilly terrain make it a challenge too. There are many unique "signature" style holes, including a 4-par to an island in the lake!
We went not expecting much, and had a surprising, Great day of golf! We're making plans to bring some buddy's back to this jewel.
