Great Set of Greens
Tee to green at Chaska is solid but nothing that will overly excite you. The greens however are one of the best sets that I have ever seen on a municipal course. While they all slope from back-to-front, there are lots of other undulations and ridges in there that keep it interesting for both putts and approach shots. It's obvious the course cares greatly about these greens as they are always in tremendous shape and putt smooth and fast. I challenge anyone to find a better set of greens for $30 or less in all of Wisconsin. Chaska is a tremendous course and I always try to play it once a year.
Good Course
I play Chaska often, it is one of the best public tracks in the Fox Valley.
That said, they are a little off their game this year. They lost an enormous willow tree that was right at the dogleg corner on 18, really reducing the importance of a great tee shot. The day we played there was a trap totally dug up and effectively under construction on #7, with no designation as GUR (or anyone working to repair it). Greens were very hard, despite a lot of rain in the past two weeks.
Maybe the COVID crisis has them a little messed up - I sure hope they get back to thd conditions they've had over the last few years.
In Great Shape
Played today and course is in great shape - we've had a lot of rain this year and i expected it to be a little wet, but things were fine. Greens were good, sand was good as well. Pace of play was fine, saw the beer cart 4 times in 18 holes. Chaska is a solid layout and when conditions are as good as they are right now, it is a great place to play.
Excellent Fall Shape
Play here often so i don't post a review every time, but i have to say the greens were in top shape, even though they had been aireated and dressed in Sept.
Course was green, lush, in great fall shape.
Nice layout!
I have played this course a few times a year since 1998. Only time I was disappointed was when there was a change in management a few years back and the greens became very slow to putt on. Now, I have been playing there again since and I have been very impressed. The prices are reasonable and it is a great place to bring friends and family out to play. Though I love to walk just enjoy what has been created for us! You can do the same in a cart I guess! Overall this is a great place to golf and have fun!
