Greens were awesome
Other than the greens, the course is in the worst condition I've seen in a long time. Yes it's been dry but it's more than that. They should close the course for an entire year and fix the "Problem Spots" once and for all instead of the Band Aid approach.
Some of the spots need total reconstruction and possibly a water retention pond or two along with drain tile.
This keeps happening every year and it's always the same ole same ole.
Sorry, I wasn't going to "Sugar Coat " it.
Also I used Golf Now and they charged me $20.05 for a cart for 18. Another local course is including carts as they did pre Covid and yet another is only charging $10 for a cart for 18.
I think Kemper Golf needs to be a little more realistic about the course condition and how what they are charging due to the shape of the course.
Dont waste your time
Pro shop boy was rude and didnt know what he was doing. Fairways were either bare or swampy. Not worth the money
This is a good course to play a round of 9 or 18!
I really enjoy forest hills it’s fun and challenging at the same time.
All around excellent course
Both fairways and greens were in great shape. Beautifully set in old woods along side of towering bluffs, which provided for many sloping fairways. Front.9 relatively easy, but back 9 is challenging. No restaurant services or driving range, but there is a par 3practice hole and putting green.
Bugs
The gnates are awful. Bitten several despite deet spray
Great Place
Course was in perfect shape. The new layout is a big improvement. Will play a couple more times this year.
Overall good experience
About 1 month ago our area had 10 inches of rain and considering what all the area golf courses had to go through, the course was in good shape. There were some wet spots but nothing to concerning. The greens were the best rolling and truest greens I putted on all year long and that's saying a lot because we have a lot of courses in this area. We saved $10 off 18 holes in the cart by using this app and went at 6:45 a.m. I would go again if the savings were right and would recommend this course to a friend.
Not even close to worth the cost
$46 is a joke to play this poorly kept and poorly run course.
Great Remodel
They remodeled and changed the routes of four holes. They look and play great. The greens for the entire course are in excellent condition and most of the course is in very good shape. The remodeled holes were just opened and have some thin spots in the fairways. There are plans to over seed parts of the course this fall and that should fill in the thin spots. This course is over 100 years old so it is walkable and not very long, but it is very tight in spots with many tall and older hardwood trees that provide a challenge if you don't hit it straight.
Another Great Time at Forest Hills
I come up to see my son and play golf a few times during the summer. We have played Forest Hills a few times and the course is always in great shape and the holes changes have turned out great!
We will definitely be coming back next month to play again!
Forest Hills is worth your time
Great course and the staff are very friendly. Played it twice this year, the first time the entire course wasn't open due to a "remodeling" to accommodate the trains coming through. Yesterday, played the complete 18 with the new holes. The entire course is beautiful and the new holes blended in well. You need to hit em straight here!
Neat place
Thought this was a neat place to play. The front nine is pretty forgiving, it is fairly flat and not too tuff. The uniqueness of the couse is in the hilly back nine that is jambed up against the cliffs. The fairways get narrower and less straight. The par threes are hill to hill shots that are not very forgiving. The staff was great and the pace of play was good. The ranger kept things moveing.
