Lake Mills Golf Course

About
Lake Mills Golf Club first opened in 1927, making it one of the area's oldest courses. The original nine-hole course was shaped and molded from gently rolling farmland. The course eventually expanded to a full 18 holes and has undergone other major renovations since it first opened though it still retains the same traditional character as the original course. At just over 6,700 yards from the tips, the course has several holes that will please long hitters. The occasional water hazard comes into play as well as several strategically placed bunkers. Mature trees also line the fairways, demanding accuracy. Lake Mills Golf Club has a fair amount of challenges in store but beginners should still feel confident about approaching it, especially with four different sets of tees available.

Solid course
Long wide fairways, difficult to lose a ball here they keep the woods trimmed and greens perfect. I will return.
Off course
Check in was odd with paperwork to fill out prior to taking golf cart out. The pace was good. The ball washers had no towels to clean & wipe golf balls.
There was no water on the course and no beverage cart.
After our round we wanted to get lunch and a beer and we were told that the bar and kitchen were closed and that all their help went back to college? It’s a holiday weekend and you diid not plan ahead for this?
Very poor …. Beautiful day , but poor 19 hole accommodations.
Great spot great price.
I’ve heard my friend complain about this course, but I think it’s great. It’s a good challenge for all, and the staff is always very friendly.
REALYNICE
CHALLENGING. GREEN IN GREAT SHAPE, TEE BOXES A LITTLE RUFF BUT I USE A TEE. STAFF WAS AWESOME. THE ONLY ISSUE I DID HAVE WAS THE GOLF CART APPLICATION. :). BUY YOU WILL SEE THERE IS A LOT OF WATER AND HILLS SO I CAN SEE SOMEONE HAVING TO MUCH FUN. IT MUST BE AN ISSUE. GREAT COURSE.
Owners
Very obviously prioritize money and will do anything to scrape the last few dollars that they can. Tee times are spaced at 7 and 8 minute intervals on a course that has at least 6 blind tee boxes. Pace of play is slow as slow can be and it is dangerous with blind tee shots. 2025 staff is great outside of management. I’ve played this course numerous times throughout the summer and the last time there a friend and I had paid for 18 holes and after 9 it had become apparent that the course had filled up everything was backed up. Kindly went into the clubhouse to ask if we would be able to receive a voucher for a discounted 9 holes as we wanted to go home. Manager told me no she cannot do that, even though I had been playing here more than once per week. At minimum 100$ per week from a playing partner and myself that they will never see again. This place is money hungry and fails to understand that their business practices will hurt them down the line. Also the huge sign when you walk into the clubhouse saying “attention golf cart owners, guests are expected to pay full price for carts” screams cheap beyond belief. Clean it up
Golf away⛳️
We drove one hour to play before heading to Madison for a few days. This was our first time at the playing the course and we both loved the course and the signage was so perfect!
I guess the cart paths could use a little work but otherwise it was great!
I run a girls league on Monday and Wednesday and I am going to ask if the girls would drive to Lake Mills to play on a Monday.
Lake Mills
Very nice n reasonably priced course. Excellent conditions and quick pace of play
A few
Not well marked where the next hole was. Had to ask for directions. Then all of a sudden when we got to hole 16 there were 2-foursomes playing and another person waiting. Where did they come from???? We never waited before!
Golf was fine, staff not so much.
We had a 12:15 tee time with a "deal" from Golf Now. Arrived at 11:35, checked in and all good. 3 others on the practice green asked if we wanted to go ahead of them. We said "no" since it was still 30 minutes before our tee time.
They teed off, we waited 5 minutes and tried to tee off. Hit good drives, when the lady in the clubhouse came out and said we could not go. She had others between that group and our tee time.
NO ONE ELSE HAD CHECKED IN.
We went out and got our drives and back to the practice green. A two some finally came and teed off 10 minutes later. Then a four some teed off. The four some wasn't in a hurry and we didn't end up teeing off until 12:25, 10 minutes after our tee time. We waited every shot. At the turn, the foursome went in for a drink and we were able to play through.
Very frustrating that the course made us wait for two groups that showed up at tee time. Won't be going back.
This is the pro shop responding. When you checked in, you were told we had back-to-back tee times ahead of you and that we would get you out at 12:15, which was your scheduled tee time. A few minutes later, we saw you teeing off just before the tee time of the people who were finished loading up and driving to the tee box, which isn't fair to them. We asked you to wait until your appropriate time. We did inform you right at the start when your tee time was, and that we couldn't get you out before that. We are sorry you felt you could go out whenever you felt like it. Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that at most golf courses.
