Lakewinds Golf Course

I teed off on a Sunday at 11:52 AM and felt like I had the course to myself on the front nine. The greens are elevated and most are small, with sharp drop-offs -- meaning if you barely miss the green, the ball will roll several yards away (don't miss #10 to the left). The course had a good stand of grass in the fairways and the greens generally rolled well.

Oh yeah, lots of elevation changes. This course is short, but fun and challenging.

I was sorta hesitant booking this course due to the shorter length but extremely glad I did. This course will definitely test your short game skills. The course was very well maintained and great staff.

I live in Stillwater’s which is 25 minutes from Lake Winds (where there’s a golf course). It used to be a very popular and nice course. The past several months the whole course has gone down, down, down hill. The restaurant food is not good at all and it’s way over priced.

So, if your in the area I would highly suggest avoiding SW and go to Lake Winds. It’s fun, challenging and just an overall great course.

It was different from western courses but enjoyed.

First time I played this course and I was somewhat disappointed in the course conditions. Very muddy, not because of an abundance of rain but because of the lack of good turf. Fairways and rough had very little grass resulting in lies that were very tight and muddy nearly everywhere you hit the ball. Greens were OK, not great, but they are tiny, elevated and run off easily due to the lack of a fringe or rough surrounding them.

May try the course in mid or late summer after it has had a chance to green up and dry out. But I do not recommend it for winter and early spring play.

I have played here twice this winter and while the course isn’t in top condition, I wouldn’t expect it to be this time of year. Greens were still very smooth and medium speed. Where this course wins in my opinion is the great staff they have and tremendous value for the money. While other nearby courses (who also aren’t in top condition this time of year) are charging regular rate, Lakewinds offers a great low price and tons of fun. Also this course is in touch with reality, something some other nearby courses DEFINITELY can’t say. They realize who’s playing here and in turn are relaxed and easy going. I’ve been able to bring young kids out here with me both times and they received nothing but the warmest welcome. I highly recommend playing here and can’t wait to play the course in the regular season.

Quite cool today and had it had rained recently but the course had drained well. A few wet spots but nothing messy. Staff gave great recommendation for where to get a good steak locally. Thanks Steve! It was delish! Nancy and Debbie.

Love playing here. Course is always in good shape and they’re always improving things. Great value for the money.

Love this course! Been coming here since around July and keep coming back! Great staff, fun and challenging course with beautiful views!

Had a great time playing with my family. The turtle back greens were surprisingly challenging.

Play with a group that has multiple handicaps. Course has open fairways but offers challenges for most skill levels. Fun course because on many days it does not get real busy so you are not rushed every hole. Staff is friendly.
