Country Club of Canton

I live not a mile through the woods from this course. It’s always been beautiful to look at passing it. I finally got back into golf and I said let me play the country club. I wish I had played sooner because it beats all expectations. I very challenging course. I love to drive more than anything and the par 4s and 5s of the course were awesome. I believe I will become a member here. The pool for the wife and kids and the course for me.

We really enjoyed this course! Nice layout and amazing staff. If you see a review on here that was negative from me it was meant to be written for Links of Madison County. I typed it out and sent it and then all I saw were comments for this course. This course is a 10/10!

Played this course on the way down to Biloxi, MS for a spring break getaway for some golf and seafood.

This course is rated #2 on GolfPass’ Top 10 Golf Courses in Mississippi - Golfers' Choice 2024. Though it’s a good course, that rating might be a bit high. The greens on this course are small, difficult to hit, and once you are on the green they are undulating enough to leave a tap-in 2-putt the best you’ll do on most holes. Your short game wedges play should get a workout here. The back 9 is considerably tougher than the front, with holes #15 thru #18 ready to ruin your scorecard.

CONDITIONS: There was considerable rain in the area a day or two before I played. Almost every shot ended up plugged and was played as preferred lies. Given the rain and dormant grasses, I’m not going to rate the conditions of this course based off this visit.

VALUE: They provide a fair walking rate. Thank you.

LAYOUT: Good variation in hole lengths and challenges. Plenty of well placed doglegs and hazards to keep your attention. The course is easy to walk, and I would encourage that.

FRIENDLINESS: The guys in the pro shop were very helpful.

PACE: Was one of the first ones off for the day. Although I had a 2some just ahead of me, I never caught them and never had to wait. Finished is just over 3 hours. Great day!

DIFFICULTY: Redundant. Because the greens are so small you’re not going to hit many of them. As such, around holes #6 or #7 I began to realize that this course is just really a test of your short game wedge shots… and a monotonous one at that. You will have the same chip/pitch to slightly elevated green all day.

Driving down from up north this was a fun course to play, and I will gladly stop in Canton on my next trip down south to play it again.

This is the second time I’ve played this course, and really think it is a great value! Course layout is fun & challenging. Greens are small but roll really well. Pace was great… I was able to play 18 holes in around 3 hours.

Loved the course, however the greens needs a little work as they felt like small hills to the middle. It made my bad shots roll off too easily. :)

This course had good tee boxes and the greens were in great shape. Good value for the money. Friendly staff.

The course is generally in very good shape, fairways and good greens.
The layout is excellent and somewhat challenging but playable especially for average golfers.
