Beautiful October day at Delaware !!
Two very happy Canadian golfers visiting niagara buffalo area for weekend took opportunity to play a little golf at Delaware state operated golf course and loved our experience!! Smallish somewhat easy course is a gem for residence and visitors alike. Must pass along a sincere thanks to many of the local fellow golfers for their kind assistance on course layout and willingness to let others play through!
Yes value for the money,..... terrific and we'll be back in the spring!!
It's a City Course
I had to write this after reading other reviews regarding Delaware that appeared way to harsh. A good craftsman does not blame his tools.
Hit the ball straight and who cares where the rough is or isn't.
Course has little or few hazards that can actually impede you play.
Pace of play is something all golfers need to be mindful of and proper action is to relate your delays and frustrations to the ranger, you can call the club house and complain as well and the ranger WILL investigate.
The lady whose husbands forgot licenses at starters hut...do you leave credit cards with cashiers as you shop??
It's a city course and it has its limits...you want a club house and better amenities travel to Diamond Hawk by the airport and spend 3 to 4 times as much just to play, plus 5 dollar drinks, plus a course that will kick your behind if you can't hit your spots.
Showing off Buffalo
Best value by far. Olmstead society does an awesome job. Fun and pace was perfect
Great place to try differant shots
Course wide open . Windy day in October. 3hrs round. Had a great time.
disappointed experience at Delaware Golf Course
On Sept 20 at around 12.45 pm my husband went to the clubhouse to register and to get a golf cart. He was asked for his driver’s licence and also to sign an indemnity form for the golf cart. ( By the way, you have to park your car at the bottom of the slope and walk up to register. Not good for the disabled. )
The clerk, Steve, kept his driver’s licence and my husband thought that was the norm as this is the first time we golfed there. Then he gave us the key to cart. When my husband returned the key he was not given back his driver’s licence and my husband has also forgotten to ask for it back.
He did not realize he did not have his driver’s licence until we were in the other part of town later that evening. We were lucky we did not head back to Canada yet! Luckily, when we called the golf course around 7.20 pm, there was a staff there who agreed to meet us somewhere at the other side of town to pass back my husband’s driver’s licence.
We have never been asked for our driver’s licence when we take out a golf cart for a game!
This has caused a lot of inconvenience that evening besides missing a dinner appointment.

This course is legitimately a park
I had never played here before, and it will be the last time. I couldn't stand the course, and my reasons why:
•Many tee boxes were uncared for
•It's a park, so people were walking right down the middle of the fairway as I'm about to tee off.
•As I was about to tee off, a family was sitting 10 yards from me talking and yelling to each other.
•A basketball court is near a tee box, and people there are yelling.
•A few greens had bumps and divots no one repaired, making long putts useless.
•The way the course is set up is very unorganized, and I get that it's a park and it's doing the best it can.
•The address on GolfNow isn't the address to the clubhouse, it was to some college across the street.
•When I got to the first tee, and I booked a tee time, they had at least 5-8 people waiting to tee off.
Waste of time and money
Even at the hotdeal rate it's not worth it, I couldn't image paying top dollar. It's honestly a large field with weeds growing everywhere, you can hardly define what is fairway and rough. Good luck matching the tee box to the proper green. The greens are your average golf course fairway. Rather than go here I recommend a driving range with a putting green and putt putt.
Don't waste your time...
Thought we would try this course for the first time to see what it was like. If you care anything about course conditions, don't waste your time. It's pretty much like playing in a big field. If you like hitting through and over trees on par 3's, you'll have some laughs. No cart paths guiding you to the next holes and there was maybe 3 holes that had ladies tees. Hey there's a few sand traps, but no sand in them, just weeds growing. They have rakes to use though, LOL! And last but certainly not least, don;t expect to find the entrance to the course easily. It took us 2 laps around and 2 phone calls to the clubhouse to talk our way into this place. If you wanna have a few laughs, go check it out.
Love the history
I wanted to play here because of the history of the war of 1812,and enjoyed our round. It's a easy course to walk
Great Public Course
This is the second round on this course and the weather lended itself to give us a good score. Greens and fairways had dried enough from the winter that the balls were running properly and no winter plugs. Greens were in good shape and fast & true for the most part. This course is in the middle of a large park with other sports themes around. So if you don't mind the ambiance of city life, and crowds you will be okay. It is a par 68, and we played it in 3.5 hours. Tip look at the scorecard to navigate around. The holes can be confusing. Also to get into the course do not follow GPS. Drive around to the edge of the park, and follow the first parking lot in. Then drive up the single lane path to the clubhouse. The clubhouse is actually at the SW corner.
Nice place to boost your ego
The course was in pretty good shape except for the first green that has always been a problem, The course is short and being a par 68 makes your scores seem even better. It is a nice place to get in a round after work of if you have some spare time.
Course not in good condition!
I could not tell the difference between fairway and rough. Greens were not in good condition also had people with dogs walking through the course while trying to play.
