Dehydration
First off, the course was in great shape.Greens were fast, quite the challenging course no complaints.Whatsoever
The complaint we had pn this hot day was by the ninth hole, we had ran out of any water we brought with us thinking, there was going to be a cart girl which there was not. And on the ninth hole, the little hot dog stand the poor girl, she was out of all drinks all food by 1:30. The only thing we were ablero get was a small thing of crackers for the next 9 holes, by the time we were done extremely thirsty, extremely hot. Totally unacceptable.
No drinks of any type that day on the course.
Not walker friendly
I've been playing Green Hill for over nearly 50 years and almost always walk. Recently the powers that be decided to build a driving range which affected 3 holes. The tenth was shortened, sixteen tee plays to 17 green and a new hole was built. The new routing on the back 9 makes the walk more difficult and increases playing time by 15 to 20 minutes. Some of us have proposed alternate routing with no success. In my opinion a Municipal Course shouldn't penalize those who chose to walk.
Hit the Long Ball in Worcester
Went into playing Green Hill blind with a buddy. Didn't know anything about or anyone else that has played it.
I had a lot of fun. The most impressive part was the elevation changes. Uphill, downhill, and side are all in play. You can be a little wayward off of the tee and the course will bring the ball back for you. Although, it could go the other way too.
The course plays firm and fast. I was getting an extra 20+ yards on tee shots but approaches played the same. The greens were receptive and inviting to go after. There may have been blind tee shots but not really on the approach.
These were also some of the fastest greens I have played this year. They roll true but speed control is paramount.
Wait. GREEN AERATION still severely impacting game but BRING THE CAMERA FOR THE FALL VISTAS
Worcester based course, with the 'Hills of Worcester' dominating the course fairways...sloping fairways will challenge the best of golfers. I would say, the VISTAS, come the FALL, will be stunning...so do bring along the camera/phone
...sadly, the lack of knowing the timeliness of the recent/current aeration made putting a joke...think puts that looked like basketballs being tossed
...After dealing with the slopes, to not be rewarded, in fact punished by the aeration(many of the aeration holes even lacked sand...or, perhaps may have been washed away in a recent rain storm). Some blind shots led to our foursome almost being hit from behind, fellow golfers could not see us, or to the next hole(PERHAPS THE COURSE can INSTALL A SAFETY BELL etc)...The vistas for the FALL are sure to make the leaf peepers happy, but, too, the greens may be usable, hopefully, sooner than later.
Be alert too, the back nine has had some reconfiguration and golf GPS may not have good distances...and stay alert, there are some tight tee boxes sprinkled about the course...all in all, I will look to play again, in the early FALL...in time for some great PICTURES...maybe a putt or two also
A Exceptional Municipal Course
Not my home course but I’ve played it twice in 6 days. Lots of fun. The new 17th hole is a nice change. Great value and pace of play was better than average. We played as a 3 some in under 4 hrs at a leisurely pace.
I Love the new layout of the back 9 and new practice facilities!
The new practice faculty is exceptional. The course was in exception shape after several days of extreme heat. The fairways and greens played very fair. The new layout of the back 9 is a welcomed change. The only issue I had was that my GPS app did not incorporate the change in the back nine. So make sure you pick up a score card.
Green Hill
Great golf course lots of fun challenging. staff is very friendly the greens were particularly fast took some time to get used to and the grill on the hill has some really good food the turkey burger and steak tips is what we had and they were both fantastic also call the course because the price I got on Golfnow was the same You get as a walk-in and you avoid the convenience fee
Green Hill
Overall it was a very nice round of golf, the greens were in great shape and pace of play was excellent. The course has a challenge for every type of golfer. Looking forward to another round at Green Hill.
Nice City Course
I had a very nice time playing Green Hill Golf Course. The staff were very friendly from the moment we arrived until we left. The course is in very nice condition and presents a fun challenge for golfers of all ability levels. There are nice views of Worcester from many holes on the course. While playing, we saw a large deer prance around a few fairways which was a bonus. The only drawback to the golfing experience was there was no drinking water available on the course. Overall, a very nice course which I will play again!
Green Hill
Very nice course and staff. There is a challenge on every hole and the greens were most challenging.
Green Hill
When I first got there the staff was very friendly and courteous. During our play we found the course a challenge and the greens were very fast, fairways in very good shape. The tees were also in very good shape. I look forward to my next round at Green Hill.
Player friendly course.
I really enjoy this course. It is challenging for all levels. It is a great course for the money. They are doing alot of work, including adding a driving range. I look forward to going back next year to see all the changes.
Good 18 hole muni course
Course in good shape, fairways a bit scruffy, greens quick. Course sits on top of hill which resulted in some windy conditions. We started on #10 due to a group in front of us. This was fine, except when we made turn, we had to wait for others starting on #1.
clique
We showed up early for our tee time and we went to the first tee a few minutes early. One group teeing off so we thought we had it made. NOT!!! 2 more foursomes came up to the tee and told us we had to wait because the guys in front and they always played together. I went back to the pro shop and was told that's the way it is.It was like high school again. If you're in your in and if your not......you fill in the rest.
a good round but not without challenges
THis is a great course and it is a win just to get out here because it is so busy with city workers and locals. Our tee time was during a tournament on one side and a small group of local on the front. It took forever to play the round but the course was in good shape and the views are great. Bring a lunch and dont be in a hurry here and you will have an enjoyable round.
Course was overbooked
They had a shotgun start late and jammed in course employees w/ us and city league right behind us all day! Arghh. But that's never gonna change up there.Always some B.S. every round. Course was nice and greens fast/firm. Bunkers and fairways perfect. Pack a cooler, It's gonna be a while..
This course has some great views over Worcester.
A great value for the walker, but take note, it's a hilly course. I will definitely play it again. It's a great 'muni'.
Best Municipal course Ive played!
Great course! Maintained very well and staff is very friendly. I have never seen a municipal course maintained so well. It is a fairly open/forgiving course but the hilly lies on most fairways provide a very nice challenge.
Some great views as well!
