Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe - Championship Course

My wife and I had one problem. We had not played this course for awhile.

We had a very hard time navigating the physical layout of this course. We found very little signage helping us transition from one whole to another. Also, we found very few tee boxes on the front side that were marked by whole or hole distances.

The above problems, make our experience at Marty Sanchez , very poor.

We had a group in front of us that would tee off from the white and had to hit just past the red tee box. 2 groups of walkers ahead of them who slowed down the pace for everyone else behind them. For the first time, I was bored with the pace and playing wasn’t fun.

This course is most always one of the better maintained courses in the greater Santa Fe area.

Although the area is currently experiencing lower than usual rainfall conditions, they are maintaining all of the greens on excellent shape. Fairways are experiencing some areas of browning / dry grass due to limited watering conditions. Still played very well.

I really enjoyed my round at Marty Sanchez. There was a good mix of holes: short/long, easy/difficult. Because of the terrain even a shot pretty far offline was usually finadable. The staff was great and it genuinely seemed like a place where the community gathered. A lot of the groups (including myself) were singles that just wanted to play and didn't mind joining up with other golf enthusiasts. I will mention that because of some water issues the course is currently cart path only. I opted to walk and it's a very walkable course. It was hot but the routing takes you past a water fountain multiple times and the beverage cart was very efficient.

I’ve played this course 4 or 5 times in the past 10 years. It’s now a staple of my visit’s to Santa Fe. Excellent public course with friendly people and good pace of play. Our group was slightly slow but the marshal was polite and accurate in asking us to pick up the pace. Ultimately finished in 41/2 hrs so okay pace. Nice course when in area.

The greens are starting to come back around, still slow and bumpy but not garbage like the last few years. Course is staring to dry out. Hopefully we get some rain as the water supply is limited.

Arrived during a thunderstorm and the staff let us know they would honor tee time if it clears and we want to play. Went to get a snack and the storm subsided. We got to play our round and had a great time.

Clubs were decent.

This was an excellent layout in really good shape. Definately walkable and fairways were in excellent shape. Greens were bumpy but overall not bad. Granted it is not one of your high end courses but for $40 the value is excellent. Would defiantly recommend this course.

Because of the fragile fairways, it’s cartpath only during the winter. That does affect the pace of play as the front line took us over two hours 30 minutes. The course is in really good shape for the weather and the fact that we’re in High Plains desert. The views are spectacular.

Perpetually cart path only because of decades of drought. Wish I would have known that before I played.

Traveled from the east coast to the Albuquerque

Balloon Fiesta and had a chance to sneak in a round. We stayed in Sante Fe and very few courses to choose from. Decided on MS and the layout, conditions and value was a great surprise. Tee's fairways and greens all in good to very good condition. Plenty of tee boxes choices.
