San Pedro Golf Course is an 18 - hole championship facility located on the banks of the San Pedro River. The golf course winds through the mesquite and along the banks of the San Pedro on the front nine. The back nine travels through four canyon like settings and finishes up with the 457-yard par four split fairway eighteenth hole. The golf course stretches out to 7187 yards from the tips and there are five sets of tees to accommodate golfers of all skill levels.

The surrounding vistas at San Pedro are unmatched by any other golf club in Southeastern Arizona. From various points on the course, the San Pedro River Basin can be seen and this Mark Rathert design stretches along those river banks to the natural canyon like settings with the Dragoon mountain range in the background. The elevation changes and cool crisp air provide a setting that will bring you back for the challenge.

The bentgrass greens will provide slick playing surfaces with some undulations to test your stroke. The key to play on hole # 2 - is to stay clear from the left side, as the San Pedro comes into play early in your round. Your second shot to this 457-yard par four will test your long iron game! The fifth creates a great approach to the green on this par five. The par four sixth requires precision off the tee, as there are two bunkers along the right side with a narrow approach to the green. The seventh is a cute par three that is followed up with a par four and the 558 yard par five ninth that requires two well placed shots as the right hand side is guarded by a pond as you approach the green. The left side approach is definitely your safety valve.

The back nine opens up with a straight away 400 yard par four followed by a 197 par three with a very tricky undulated green that slopes from left to right. Walk away with a three here and be happy. Holes 12 - 16 will offer you both scenery & challenges coupled with a great test of golf. The twelfth is as good a par four that exists. The tee shot leads you into a narrow area that favors the left side, as this is a slight dogleg right. The second shot will let you know if you can thread the needle as the approach is a gem. Once on this bowl shaped green area you will look back and see the beauty that Mark Rathert carved here. The ride to the thirteenth tee brings you to the highest elevation on the course, where the San Pedro River Valley surrounds you - encased by three mountain ranges including Cochises' Stronghold - where that once heralded Indian and his tribe staked their claim. The 605 yard thirteenth will require position to the right center on both your drive and second shot, as you approach to this green. The fourteenth resembles hole # 12 but is a tad longer. The fifteenth hole is a scenic par three with a drop of 50 feet from teeing area to green. The sixteenth and seventeenth give you a slight breather as you approach the finest finishing hole in Southeastern Arizona - the par four split fairway 457 yard eighteenth hole. Water comes into play off the tee as well as on the second shot to this green that is also guarded by a bunker as you approach the apron.

San Pedro is tough but fair with exceptional playing surfaces and a range of tees (5) that will test golfers of all levels. You won't tire at San Pedro - enjoy the scenery and the natural desert like playing conditions that will soon be heralded throughout the area.

Too early to open

Why open when you can’t even mow it

Why not post on your web site cart path only

Why not lower price when you have no grass

Why does a player who has to play two balls on every shot (including putts) not ask the golfer waiting behind him to play through

Love the course but they need help

City course may be the problem

Greed is ugly

Lower your green fee when you no grass

Course Conditons Need Help

The tee boxes and fairways were in poor condition. Greens were in good condition and rolling well. Bunkers continue to be terrible with "transition" to grass but were actually hard pan with weeds. Wish they would return to actual sand bunkers. Course maintenance was soon to begin and hopefully improvement will be noted.

I've been here last winter and spring, the course was attempting to get the fairways and greens in shape. Greens are much better. Fairways and tee boxes are like i'm playing on a dirt course. Unexceptional Come on guys--I love your course. Please reseed do something.

Water please

Some of the tee boxes and fairways need more water, bare in too many spots. Greens were good. Service is good. As is the restaurant.

Lousy

My wife and I have played San Pedro many times. Today the course was in the worst shape ever. Many of the fairways were mainly dirt. The course has been more expensive this year than before. We've been able to play the course for $15-19 before during the summer. Because it's been more expensive this year we expected a better course, not so. We like the course layout but won't be going back. How sad to let a course get in such bad shape. Makes us wonder if it's going under.

Even some of tee boxes were just dirt.

Poor condition - dirt tee boxes and dirt fairways!

Sad to see the course in its current condition. Seemed like the course was improving and then the last few months the tee boxes have hardly no grass and the fairways are dying. It is in very poor condition. Greens are still in good condition though. Staff is normally friendly but if you come in late in the day you can tell they get upset. The hours are terrible and have no twilight hours to use the driving range or course after work during the week. Prices are too expensive. Per the condition of the course I would expect to pay 20 or less. Very sad to see a cool course be in such bad shape.

Overpriced for how the course looked

Tee boxes and fairways are terrible and for almost 40 bucks a round it is way over priced for what it currently is. Sad it is not being kept up at all.

Bad shape!

Much better shape than previously. Unfortunately fairways and tee boxes look terrible. Greens were good but a lot of crab grass growing in them so bumpy. Paid $28 and would not go back for that price. At normal $39 no way. Sad as the course layout is really neat.

Dirt Track Muni

Made the drive from Tucson. This is nothing more than a dirt track municipal golf course. Acceptable greens, but the fairways are hit and miss. Beyond the fairway, the rough is a lot of weeds and chunky dirt that can give you lies where you can’t physically get the club face on the ball and you have to fat it out of the dirt.

The one place I have to give huge props is the set of yellow Junior tees. My son had a blast, and they were most very appropriate for a 10 year old.

Reminds me a lot of Fred Enke, only the layout is a bit less goofy. Extremely narrow in spots on the back nine, where the landing area, including the rough, is 20 yards wide max with no place to miss.

There are definitely some enjoyable holes here, but not enough to offset the goofy ones. I would play Randolph North courses over this any day.
