Read the bad reviews on here so wasn't expecting much. To my surprise the club was great. Closest thing to normal I've experienced this year. Check in was effortless and compliant, and the range was open. The greens are still recovering from being punched but not as bad as the other reviews, they'll be in great shape in about a week. Good to see sand on the carts, the fairways are in better shape than other courses because of it.

Sleepy Ridge GC is a challenging, fun course that our group enjoys playing each year, and we include it in our annual rounds as we play around the state; the course was in good shape for this time of year, but the greens were still recovering from aeration (sand filled holes still affected putts heavily) which made this round less enjoyable; it was somewhat like playing roulette when putting because the ball would hit the holes on every putt so you hoped it either wouldn’t affect the putt or you would hope it would work in your favor; I had a 1 foot putt on #9 hit a hole 3 inches from the cup and it turned it left and killed the roll scoring a bogey on what should have been a guaranteed par.

I realize the state was experiencing the COVID-19 situation and many courses were not open so it was busy, but full price with greens in as bad a shape as they were was price gouging, like the hoarders trying to sell a roll of toilet paper for $7/roll.

Love the course, and the staff was very friendly, but the health situation should not allow you to overcharge customers.

Teed off at 2pm on a Tuesday. Payed $25 to walk and played in just under 4 hours. Course was in great shape. The greens were a bit dotted up (pretty normal for the end of summer), but still rolled true and pretty fast. The pro shop said they were going to punch in a week or two, so if you are planning on playing in mid Sep, I’d give them a call first.

Pretty wide open off the tee with 3 or 4 forced carry tee shots. Greens were large and tiered with some false edges, probably the most challenging aspect of the course. The ball sat up nicely in the fairway and the rough was light and forgiving. Fun course, pretty gettable if you don’t spray it too badly off the tee.

Played midday on a Tuesday, walked the course in 4 hours, and payed $25 ($50ish to ride). The fairways, rough, and bunkers were in good shape. A few of the tee boxes were a bit lumpy, but I’ve seen worse for sure. The greens were dotted up pretty good, understandable for the time of year, but stilled rolled true and pretty fast. The lady in the shop said they were going to punch in a week or two, so if you are planning to play in mid Sep 2019, I’d call ahead to check.

Overall the course is highly gettable, depending on the tees. Not a lot of strategy needed. I hit less than driver a handful of times off the tee, but if I played again I would just hit driver and pick more aggressive lines on most of those. There were 3 or 4 forced carry tee shots, which might be a problem for less experienced golfers, but other than that the course was wide open and can be enjoyed by a wide range of skill levels.

Specifically, the course can be easily overpowered by long hitters. Super wide open. . The ball sat up nicely in the rough and it was really a non issue. The only defenses being wind, speed of greens, and pin placement. A few of the greens are huge with different levels. 3 putts could abound depending on where you hit the ball. FWIW, I found that the greens had 20-30% less break than my eye was reading. I walked the course and there were a few stretches between holes, but otherwise it was a nice walk. Nice views of the mountains and lake beyond the housing developments.

Would definitely play it again.

Very slow pace of play, waited 5-10 minutes at each tee. I’m somewhat of a beginner, but did not find this course beyond my skill level, pretty beginner friendly. At the same time, I was playing with a few experienced golfers who found the course to be sufficiently challenging. All in all it was worth playing and made for a good afternoon.

I enjoy getting out early for quick rounds of golf. Everytime i play there i make the turn to find they have let people randomly off the back 9. Most wont let you play through or its pointless to try to play through back to back foursomes. Its frustrating to make the effort and pay to play a nice paced round only to have to give up on the back 9. They should care more about their customers experience than just making a buck. They obviously dont.

Gone are the days of customer service. This place isn't expensive, but considering you can play cheaper at other places in Utah I was expecting to have a decent experience and I wanted to try this course out. I got to the course and was told to go to the back nine in order to have a better pace of play. Good. It was all downhill from there. I wanted to get some food at the turn. No one there. I asked the Pro Shop. "Oh they leave at 3." I saw they had a soda fountain in the Pro Shop. At least I can get a drink. Only to find they had no ice. I asked the Pro Shop attendant. "Sorry we are out of ice" Terrible. I was lucky they had a drink fridge. No soda but Gatorade and water. So lame. The kid running the Pro Shop said he gets hungry sometimes. I told him he should tell his manager. Just no customer service. Greens were in bad shape as well. Just a poorly managed place. Won't be back.

I paid $50 to play this course thru Golf Now. When I got there my wife noticed they a special rate of $30 between 10-2 and a normal rate of $42. We teed off at 9:26 but we're never informed of the special rate by Golf Now or the pro shop staff. The staff refused to refund any of our money. The course was very average at best and we left with a feeling of being ripped off.

The golf course is great, but the people in the pro shop are even better. David, in the pro shop was fantastic (very helpful, friendly, accommodating, etc.)

I have never played this course before and I really enjoyed the course. I was a single and was paired with another twosome. They were great, friendly and helpful to give information about each hole that was not straight forward. The greens were smooth and nice with lots of undulations (very few ball marks not repaired by fellow golfers). The fairways and rough were thick and lush. If you are in the rough, be ready to have to hack it out because the rough is very thick and you will not get your normal distance (as it should be, you are in the rough and not in the fairway).

I would highly recommend the course because it is in great condition and David in the pro shop was the best!!!

I've been playing at Sleepy Ridge very frequently for the last four years, it was the home course for my high school golf team. I have always disliked this course but today I was put over the edge. The course is in the worst condition I have ever seen, ball marks dot the greens, you can't find a level tee box, and with the exception of Gary the staff is extremely rude and stuck up. It is a public course so some of these things are expected but definitely can be handled better. Don't waste your time coming here to play, go to: East Bay, Spanish Oaks, Soldier Hollow, Wasatch, or Talons Cove. They are all a bit farther away from the Orem/Provo area but the drives aren't bad and you will have a MUCH more pleasant experience. I do not recommend playing golf at Sleepy Ridge.

Positive:

- Very good conditions

- Beautiful Mountain Views

- Nice Clubhouse

Negative:

- Very unfriendly layout if you are unfamiliar with it

- Lots of forced carries with very long (chest-high) grouse that obscured landing areas and greens. Often didn't know which way we were supposed to go.

- Lots of chest-high grouse everywhere else on the course, too.

- No memorable holes. Zero holes that I really want to play again.

- Cart paths are far away from greens

- Only two areas where players can get water (one on back nine, one on front)

- Steps out from Pro Shop to course are large stones. Difficult to navigate---horrible if you are a senior. Really stupid idea.

- Finding the first tee was weird. Easily missed if you don't know exactly where to go.

- Lots of houses (although they didn't really get in the way of play---other than the treks between holes)

BOTTOM LINE: I feel no need to play this course again.

We played the course just over a week earlier, and the greens were acceptable - today they were horrid. Top dressed for speed, bumpy, pins cut on the sides of hills - three and four putts were common in our group. Add to that a high school tournament with several groups walking and we crawled through 14 holes, waiting at each tee box and before each shot, before giving up and going home. Not a fun day.

Good course with considerable benefit given to women via shorter length, making it much more fair. Greens were quite slick, but true. Friendly staff. Not an extremely difficult course, but challenging. For those unfamiliar with the course, there are no readily available diagrams of the holes, making it difficult to know where to aim drives.

It's a beautiful golf course with some good challenging holes. Very flat with some wonderful views of the local area and mountains.

Our round (4some) at Sleepy Ridge was great. The Staff were welcoming and accommodating. The course played challenging rewarding good shots and punishing all others. The greens rolled beautifully! There are a number of blind shot approaches that require pin-point accuracy of the shot.

This was an overall great course. My only complaint was with the pace of play, but this could be because we golfed on a Saturday at noon time. I would definitely golf this course again though. Great facilities, friendly staff, and well kept course.

As close to a true links style course as you will find in Utah. The fairways and greens are in good condition and the tee boxes allow for different levels of ability to still have a good time playing.

The only con, the bunkers are not consistent are in need of some fresh sand.

This Course has huge potential but it have never reached its full flare but it has a few holes I love like #15 strong 3 wood roughly 240 of the tee box can set you up for a solid 120-150 into the green on a side not the staff is typically rude I was shocked to see the course in descent shape stay out of the sand its almost like mud not a silky sand trap on the whole course greens weren't to bad better then normal no food available (was mothers day so no food i will forgive) on this visit I would give the course an overall 6.5 out of 10 p.s. don't for get your bug spray mosquito city at dusk

They forgot to call us out for our tee time and then put us out on the back to start. We got caught behind some very slow groups, the course was nice but the pace was poor
