Birdsfoot Golf Club

About
Birdsfoot Golf Club gets its name from the birdsfoot trefoil that covers the course, budding with small yellow flowers. Mature trees also blanket the course, making it an especially scenic round in the fall. The front nine has a links-style layout with more open holes while the back nine has a parkland landscape with trees framing most of the holes. What both nines have in common is the rolling terrain that provides some tricky uneven lies throughout. It is a golf course that requires a good deal of accuracy but it is not overly punishing if you are slightly errant. There are some good eagle opportunities on the course's par 4s and par 5s, though it is also home to four of the toughest par 3s in the Pittsburgh area.

Nice course but will not go back.
Although the course itself is in good condition and has challenging holes we were very disappointed in the course set-up. They were having an outing so I guess they decided to use every trick pin placement on the course. One hole was a par five with blind approach and the pin was placed 8 feet from the right edge on the top of a knoll on three sides. We would recommend many of the other courses in the area over this one.
Course was in good shape. Play was mostly smooth. Had a nice time and will go back again.

Great Course
We played very slow, but it was more to do with trying to teach the game to someone than actual course pace. We were one group of only a handful for the day. Great course would go back in a heartbeat. Some minor grounds keeping issues but by no fault of the course. Finally got out of bad weather and the course looked great considering it has been miserable weather for over a week. Enjoyed every minute of being out on the course on a sunny day.
Great course
Great course at a great value. Highly recommend! Can't wait to play again
The course is well kept and has beautiful views throughout.
It was a great track (comparably) for the price. It gives you multiple tee options to accomodate all skill levels and ages. Birdsfoot has many unique holes on both 9's to keep you coming back (my favorite has to be number 11). It's about a 200 yrd par 3 (depending on your tee choice), and the green is completely surrounded by sand - intimidating to say the least. I would absolutely recommend this course to anyone that's in the area, and looking for a great, challenging day of golf!
An Enjoyable Challenge
Birdsfoot fairways are fairly generous in size from the tees. The hole designs were both interesting and challenging. Hole #3 is simply a beast of a par 4 and requires two completely solid shots. There are many character holes offering risk/reward opportunities. Really enjoyed the tough par 3's and the final three holes are distinctly memorable. The greens rolled well and they suited this golfers eye, which resulted in three back-nine birdies including a 50-footer. Oh yeah, be sure to factor in the wind.
Lov the course but wasn't aware of aerated greens,,,,44 dollars to putt on a minefield?
very disappointed...travelled over an hour paid full price for four golfers ...then was told on the first tee box that the greens were aerated lol....staff did a great job smoothing it over...owners should be embarrassed at this...greed is not a good business policy!
An absolute gem
This course is gorgeous. Unbelievably scenic on a cool fall day. The staff was fantastic, it was my birthday and they went out of their way to be even more welcoming to my group. Excellent, challenging conditions, I can't wait for my next visit.
Beautiful layout- worth the drive
The Birdsfoot course is spread out atop a high spot in Freeport. The layout affords some spectacular views. From this tips, this is an extremely callenging course. It combines a driveable par four with some holes that are very difficult to reach in regulation (#3 being the best example). Fairways and greens are soft and in good condition. Bunkers were in terrible shape, but the weather in Pittsburgh seems to have wreaked havoc with many courses bunkers this year. This course is a must play and should be added to any avid golfers list.
One of SW PA's Best
This is one of my favorite courses in southwestern PA. For GOLFNOW prices, it can't be beat. For the price, it is the best public course in the area. It is a little ways out there, but it is worth it. There are some really pictueresque holes on this course.
I played in late September and the course was still in great shape.
Only complaint was that there may have been a few too many on the course, making pace a little slow.
Def recomend this course and will be playing again in the future.
Real Nice Course For The Money
Great Fairways , A Couple Of 3 Tier Holes, One Of The Nicest Staffs Ever.!!Thumbs Up
Outstanding Course!
This course is a great test of skill. The well-maintained greens are super huge and in great condition. A lot of fun to play this course!
