Ohio University Golf Course

Course is not taken care of. Tee boxes are almost unplayable. Bunkers are solid rock. Greens are filled with sand and missing grass. Would stay away from here

This course is abandoned and not taken care of. If you want to putt through land mines, mountains, and enjoy chunks missing from the greens. This is your place.

Course is average for area. Overpriced for condition. Seems no one was taught how to fix a divot on the greens. Never seems like it is in the best condition it could be. Overall not a horrible course but better places to play for the cost.

From the “Beggers can’t be choosers” Department:

This is not a horrible course. It’s okay. The greens are unpredictably dappled with ball marks, aeration holes, or black goo. There are drainage ditches running at 90 degree angles across holes 4,, 5, and 7.

The “clubhouse” is a walk-thru room from parking lot to course with almost no golf equipment to buy, no drinks, no snacks, no nothing…but the college students working the cash register are nice.

It’s great!…because I can walk my pull cart there.

Otherwise, it appears not to be taken care of very well…and I don’t think the college students doing the course maintenance really know what they’re doing.

…but it’s Athens! So, the rest of the campus, town, and overall pretty backdrop make it a nice experience.

Way better places to play for the money. Wouldn’t recommend

Course has a good layout. Needs some major up keep compared to years past. Some greens you almost can’t putt on. Got a hot deal for my tee time, $11 for 9 holes was definitely a fair price for conditions.

For the simple fact that this is the only public course in Athens county I’d recommend it to a friend. The cost for 9 with a cart shouldn’t be a penny over $15 even on the weekend. I understand that fuel costs are high these days but I feel that it’s just too overpriced for a short 9 hole course. Hocking Hills isn’t far there’s also Oxbow and Franklin Valley that are better and I do believe CHEAPER.

Overall, the course was not in great shape. The greens were choppy and were poorly maintained. The course sits in the middle of Ohio University’s campus, so there is a real possibility of hitting your ball into a parking lot or into a group of people walking along the trail surrounding the campus. I was playing behind a group of people that turned a 9 hole round that should have taken me 1.5-2 hrs to complete into a 2.5 hour round. There was clearly no pace of play enforced and the other group had no feel for letting a single golfer play through. That shows the type of players/groups that play here. The sand bunkers were also poorly maintained, thank goodness I didn’t have to play out of there during my round.

Had a very enjoyable round of golf. Great shape for being so late in season. Very friendly staff..

Took my dad out here for dad's weekend. We had a great time, but I still don't understand why it isn't free for students!! ROLLLLLLL BOBBIESSSSS

For the price you pay it’s not worth it. Badly needed mowed. 3 holes appeared to have a major drainage problem and there was mud everywhere. It should be half the price that it is.
