Legacy Ridge Country Club
About
Bonham’s newest golf course has the natives all excited about their new Bill Johnston design, created to serve as the centerpiece of a unique residential community. With the benefit of several unique landscapes at his disposal, Johnston built a front nine that starts high and weaves through lakes and waterfalls, smoothly transitioning into a parkland-style route highlighted by pecans and oaks.
The par 5 No. 9 stands out on the front, taking you back up the ridge with an approach shot into an almost cliffside green nestled against the lake.
The wetlands of Bois d’ Arc Creek line the back nine fairways, keeping water in play most of the nine. Johnston made this one fun with multiple approach shots over water, including one par 3 that plays into an island green.
Do what you can to work your way onto this course, because it’s rare to experience such a quality course in such an enjoyable, rural setting.
Getting there : From McKinney, take US 75 north to the Bonham 121 exit. Hwy. 121 merges into Hwy. 56 south of Bonham. Turn right on Hwy. 82 E.

Course has nice layout.
Course condition is in good shape. They need to fix the bunkers though, most are unplayable and have to lay out of them.
Pleasant surprise
I did not know about Legacy Ridge until recently but plan to put it on my rotation of north Texas courses. Had a hot dog and it's BYOB.
Great course, good value.
The course is in great shape. Greens are very nice even though it looks like they were aerated about a month ago.
I would like to see more "DEAL Times" for this course. DEALS only pop-ups every so often. .
Good Value
Good value during the week, but zero perks. No food and beverage, no Pro or Pro Shop options. This course has cut all of the fluff, not many improvements on the course. All holes need 100, 150, 200 yardage markers in the fairway. A rangefinder is a must to play accurately.
A Tale of Two Nines
This course is like siblings, same parents but can be completely different. The front nine is a Link design with water threating almost every shot, but it still has plenty of fairway for some miss hits, just don't plan on finding your ball if you play a slice or hook very often. The back nine plays to a bit of elevation change on a few holes and is a tighter tree lined track. Shot shaping and course management is key to a good score. The greens were in good shaped and seem to roll pretty good for being a bit thicker than they could be.
Good Value
I liked this course 10 years ago when it was well maintained. Today the carts are poor, no Pro, no restaurant, they look to be barely getting by. It's a bit of a disappointment from years ago.
Just average
Front 9 is not very good. It appears to be at a lower elevation compared to the back 9. Front 9 does not drain well. Very wet and muddy. Back 9 is a much better course and at a higher elevation for sure. Greens were not in good shape.
Hidden Gem
This course is the best kept secret in North Texas. It has an excellent layout and, despite being offseason, it was in great condition. I cannot wait to go back in the spring.
Good Value, Great condition
Great value with excellent conditions. Greens are putting good, not real fast and the fairways are in very good shape.
Very impressed for a small town course
Played with a buddy whose family lives close by. Front 9 is pretty open but several ponds are in play. Back 9 is much tighter with large trees. Course was in very good shape and the greens were well kept. Only paid $23 for twilight on a Friday and it was not very busy at all. Great value for a pretty nice course.
Also a Mexican food joint in the club house which was pretty good. Great small town feel.
Horrible
This course should not even be called "golf course".
The front 9 were closed due to "flooding" even though it did not rain the two days prior, so you could only play the back 9 twice if you choose. I didn't. I played 6 holes and left. The conditions were bad, there was no mention of any of this on the net. Actually, I wouldn't even play here if it was free. Also the carts are about 20 years old and have no power to get you over some hills.
Wasted time and money! Never again
dormant grass and wet, but still enjoyable
For a "Country" course, this didnt dissappoint. The front and back provide different challenges and was enjoyable. Evan though some parts were soaked due to excessive rain.
Great narrow course
Great layout... Front nine slivers narrowly between water making for a well placed shot on every hole... Back side changed completely to large oaks and tree lined fairways...greens were in excellent shape wish Norte people would repair their own and other's ball marks. But greens played true!!! Loved it!!! And will play there again!
Nice course
this is a good course to play. there was no problems getting on the course and it was not real busy so it took only about 3 hours to play. would play the course again. would be a tough course it the wind is blowing.
Best kept secret in the middle of nowhere
Other than the dormant fairway grass, no fault of the course, just Mother Nature. This course was great. I would love to play this course in the late spring, early summer.
