Challenging course in good shape. Good value for the money. No cart girls or water stations. Bring your own!

This was our first time playing here. The course was amazing and a great challenge. The amenities could really use some restrooms and ball wash stations. We have decided we will be back again.

Definitely a good value. Staff was excellent. Amenities left a little to be desired. Enjoyed the round and will definitely be a repeat customer.

As everyone stated, no range, I club house, no water on the course. It doesn’t hide these.

Drive was a bit winding, but have been wanting to play this course for a while. Played after the really bad storms and the course was expected to be wet and we were cart path only (no issues). It handles the rain well.

Loved the course layout, makes you play golf and not just swing the club. Greens were decent were two different kinds of grass, that impacted putting, but I’m not complaining. Apparently Gary player designed 7-13. Too many holes stand out to have a favorite, but fairways were interesting and rolling.

Would not walk, several long trips between certain holes. Was quiet on my day and no pace issues.

Will be back several times and will be part of my rotation.

Still a fairly new course. No ball washers or trash cans. Good layout.

Course has a unique layout that doesn’t return to the clubhouse and has several long walks / drives. It appears they changed locations for the clubhouse and this led to the liking distance between some

Holes.

I love the layout and the slightly rolling terrain. Greens were big, built up and fun to put on.

Put this one on your okay list if in the Houston area and you want a very reasonably priced good course.

The course was in good shape despite all the rain that we've had over the past couple weeks. Cart path only but that is expected. The pace of play was good. It took me right at 4 hours to get in 18 and that's with having to walk across the fairway many times. Only a couple of greens had some poa that affected the putting. But a great price for a good layout. It's starting to come around since I played it last summer.

I love to play golf at Grand Lake. Though it's located in a residential area. The golf course is cut out of nature. Open, no annoying city noises, just a golf course in the countryside. Quality bathrooms, anywhere you want to go. But I've never chosen a course to play by its bathrooms. I simply love me some Grand Lake.

The course maintenance personnel definitely have taken the time and effort to create such a beautiful course.

Improve the amenities (cart person, water availability on the course, an actual clubhouse) and provide easier access to the course (in a gated community with lack of a code/guard) for entry without feeling like you are trespassing (haha) and this place would be one of the best in Texas or even the country.

Need to get the course established in the GHIN system.

Good looking greens and fairways.

Play early during the because it gets packed quick on the weekends.

Grand Lake is always the perfect challenge for the golf game. Open elevating and descending fairways with very testing greens. Just love me some Gary Player old school golf. Yea, I know there are no putting and practice tees, so all the more reason to come ready to play some golf.

We had a group of 8 players in front of us and the marshal did nothing to break them up resulting in a five and a half hour round. Completely unacceptable especially at a course that offers no amenities.

This course could be a hidden gem, but the pace of play was interminable. While I very much appreciate the course being fairly well maintained at the sacrifice of NO amenities, having a marshall on the course moving slow golfers along would be an inexpensive fix. We were a foursome, but the 2 people ahead of us were taking at least 2-3 shots at every stop till they got on the green.

Grand Lakes is a course with a great layout. If the course was in better shape, it would be outstanding. NO FACILITIES!! Be aware.

Supposedly new owners and they are starting to make renovations. If they do, it will be great. Still enjoyed my round.

I'll start off with saying that there is no clubhouse, range, bathrooms, concessions, parking lot, and no turn at 9. Getting there can be annoying as you have to drive down a slow, windy road and you'll have to drive through the neighborhood in between some holes with easy to miss signs. Pace of play is some of the worst I've seen on weekends but is tolerable on weekdays. As for the course, the fairways have some small deadspots and are fairly hard throughout most of the course, the greens are slow and can be small and simple. The bunkers are not maintained with the sand being hard and full of small rocks and will be flooded if it rained within 3 days of your round. The tee boxes are not treated equally, some will be perfect others horrible. Staff can be a bit unprofessional at times but are generally fine (I did have an altercation with staff where I was threatened). Negatives aside, the course still has a lot to offer. The par 3's are all unique and enjoyable, the par 4's have wide open fairways with hills with a variety of doglegs and straight shots, the par 5's are interesting and allow for different play styles to be used. There are no houses on most of the holes just woods and the overall scenery of the course is pretty beautiful. Since the course has no concessions or TABC license, you can just save your money and bring whatever food or drinks you want. They use a fixed rate so you'll be paying 49 pre tax all day everyday which means no twilight rate but cheap weekends. Altogether, the course definitely has its flaws but for the value and ambience of the course I would say that its worth checking out at least once.

As for the course, fairways are mostly pretty hard with some dead spots, roughs are just lawn grass, some tee boxes definitely need some work, and greens are pretty slow and simple. Pace of play is usually fine on weekdays but can be near unbearable during weekends. Negatives aside, the course itself has an interesting and wide open layout, nothing too complicated. Most holes have no houses on them and are cut out of thick forest. With the course being fairly isolated in the middle of a forest, it is extremely quiet and soothing. The par 3's are all unique and enjoyable, par 4's are fairly basic with straight, wide fairways with some hills, The par 5's are vast and open with features that allow for various play styles. Hole 11 in particular has quite a view. In summary, the course has several glaring flaws but the layout and aesthetics justify its 50 dollar fee(which is fixed so weekends aren't up-charged).
