About
Utopia Golf Course is tucked away in the scenic Sabinal Canyon. It is a popular nine-hole course in an idyllic location that served as the inspiration for a book, which then became the movie "Seven Days in Utopia," starring Robert Duvall. In the film, the course is where the main character discovers his game. The scenic Hill Country views that you'll enjoy throughout the golf course were the film's backdrop. It's worth a play if only for the beautiful scenery. The layout has appeal for low and high handicappers alike. For seasoned golfers it provides a challenging but quick round, but at the same time it's player friendly enough for beginners looking for some practice. Water hazards come into play on several holes but there is only one bunker. In addition to the golf course, there is also a driving range.

Quaint Beauty
Wanted to see it after watching the movie. Best deal in the game. Great staff. Course is a bit rough but is not represented as groomed. Plays 9 or 18 in a different tee box layout. Very challenging greens. Extremely fun to play!!
Decent course
So me and my family come here like twice a month, the course itself isnt the greatest, fairways with lots of dirt patches and sections with tall grass, but its south texas so its to be expected, no dress code is a plus, no strict rules with carts, and its cheap so all in all i like this course.
Utopia Golf
The location is beautiful. The course is challenging because of the lack of rain in the area. The lay-out is good for a nine- hole course. I play the course every time I go to Garner State Park.

Just like 7 Days In Utopia
If you loved the movie you will love the experience. The course is basic farmland, grass cut for golf. They badly need rain so conditions will improve. No sandtraps but numerous trees offer some decisions and challenges. Watched rabits, deer and horses in a adjacent ranch. Played 3 straight days and loved every minute of our stay. Already thinking about next year. One note, if you have a walking cart it would be a great course to walk. This was a totally enjoyable experience.
One Day in Utopia
Being a huge fan of the "movie" and snowbirding from Wisconsin we found ourselves set up in a nice rv park on 16 near 470. We were so excited to see Utopia on the map a mere 34 miles south. AND we discovered the Movie was actually shot there. Course condition is not a concern for us as the staff and memorabilia kept us entertained beyond our expectations. I only wish we didn't have to leave in two days. I use Duvalls blessing every time I say grace. Watch "Seven Days in Utopia". Buy the DVD.

Iconic and nostalgic course
Setting for the 2011 movie seven Days of Utopia. It is a small 9 hole (play twice) course, where the tees are moved on some holes when playing the "back nine". Club house is really nice, people are very friendly. Hole 8/17 is the movie scene area. The painting g scene is set up and the views are amazing! Look beyond the unpaved cart path and you will find a nice, small, nostalgic golf course in "UTOPIA". Enjoy the game, views and the drive to and from the course. Lunch or homemade pie at the nearby lost Maples Cafe if you like.
