About
River Bend Golf Club combines some of the most unique play in the area with a course designed to provide an exciting golfing experience for players of all levels. Beautiful oak trees and meandering streams give the golf course its character, with elevation changes, multi-tiered greens and challenging areas of forced carry-including water features-and areas of forced lay-up in a links-style course, especially on the front 9. The back 9 is a more traditional golf course. All of this combined with the Texas wind makes River Bend a formidable challenge for even scratch golfers. It's one of the only only true links courses in south Texas. The staff is super and the course is very affordable. River Bend Golf Club has a unique practice facility that features an aqua range with an island green. A large putting green makes the Maverick a super practice area.
Distance: About 33 miles southeast of downtown San Antonio and worth the trip. Take Rt 181 from the Southeast side of San Antonio. Located off the 181 business loop (4th street here in the city), coming north or south off Highway 181. The loop runs north and south, like Highway 181, and runs about 1/2 mile west of it. The course and facilities are located in the Avalon Subdivision.

Fun course. Played it 2x because we enjoyed it. Nice psce of play and other golfers were curtious
Great Day
Greens and fairways in good condition especially for late fall. We played in just about 3 hours on a beautiful day!
Great day out
Course is in great shape, and had a blast playing. The only negative is there are houses everwhere!everywhere!! So being nervous I would hit one definitely got in my head. I live near by so I am sure I will play it a lot. Bring snacks, not much to pick from at the club house.
Even with gas prices like they are this course still delivers a pleasant experience
I try to play golf once a week and being from San Antonio there’s plenty courses to pick from but this course is always in my rotation because of the golf experience it gives you the layout is full of challenges that play to all levels and can be played high in the air or low on the ground like if you choose it’s links style design truly lives up to just that being that I play during the week I can only speak of the pace of play during the week which is very comfortable usually about 3 hours to play 18 holes of golf and having to use every club in the bag it’s just a great course to play and very much worth the drive to play
Review
Nice course, friendly staff, local members rude, I would never go back again. Definitely not what you would expect in a small country Texas town. They actually should be ashamed of themselves. But will bless their hearts anyway maybe they just don't know any better.

The course is not monitored at all, played behind a 5 some and a 6 some…..
Great little links style Course!
We enjoyed playing this course! Staff very friendly, plenty of water jugs on the Course and great pace of play! Some greens were a little high but understandable due to very little rain during the last few months. Each hills presented its little challenges but such a fun Course to play!
Decent for the price
course was in fairly decent shape. Fairways were hard packed, like hitting off of concrete throughout most of the course. very difficult to insert tee in the ground at the tee box
Worth the drive
I live in San Antonio. It was a 40 minute drive and I can't wait to do it again. The greens are in better condition than any course I've recently played in SA. Friendly staff, overall a great course.

Was ok
It’s been awhile since I’ve played but nothing has changed fairways are rock hard and so where the tee boxes could barley put my tee in the ground the greens where nice after hole 5 though
Played the course however the conditions weren't the best. The greens were great but the ground was very hard which made it hard to chip and pitch around the greens
I play this course almost weekly and miles and the girls in the club house are always super friendly. But this last time the older gentleman working the club house was rude and hateful. Anytime he is there I will not play the course I will leave.
