Bonnyville Golf & Country Club

I've never been one to turn down an invitation to play the Bonnyville G&CC as it's been a long time favorite track. Registration was a simple and straightforward process. The skies were overcast for much of the round and if not for a brief rain shower at the turn, the weather was absolutely perfect for a round of golf.

This is a course that won't necessarily overpower you with length, but rather with relentless demands to produce exacting drives, approach shots and putts. This parkland style course plays 5,413 yards from the forward tees, 6,133 yards from the whites and 6,541 yards from the tips. Whichever tees you decide to play, you can expect a vigorous outing.

Conditioning has always been a strong trait of the course, and an ideal summer for growing conditions has helped the greens staff maintain the course in peak form. The routing of the course takes full advantage of the property's varying personalities. On most holes, a level lie is the only reward for a perfectly placed shot on plush, tightly mown fairways. On some, the teeing ground offers the only flat surface. Characterized as a course in the parkland style, it is mostly treed, which helps provide definition of the fairways. Playing the course, it's clear that the stands of tall trees, rolling fairways, grassy hollows, thick rough, water hazards and sand filled bunkers contribute to the challenge. There is but one fairway bunker on the course and it's reachable from the tee down the left side on Hole 1.

The greens and greens complexes are as diverse as the fairways leading up to them. There are no fewer than 30 strategically placed bunkers to consider when approaching the greens. Large greens make for large targets but proximity to pin placement is the key to scoring on them. The greens are home to swirling contours and swales and will surrender strokes to only the most skilled shot makers.

If it's a course that has postcard scenery, is in great condition and has routing that takes advantage of the natural landscape, Bonnyville Golf and Country Club ticks all those boxes.

Bonnyville Golf & Country Club

The course in Bonnyville has long been a favorite. This is just a good solid track.

It's consistently maintained and generously portioned tree lined fairways require consistency off the large flat tees. Approaches to the expansive, contoured putting surfaces can often be met with the challenge of two-putting. In between there are natural elevation changes, grassy knolls, strategic bunkering and 11 water hazards.

This par 72 course plays to a maximum distance of 6541 yards from the tips with a rating and slope of 72.8 and 136. If you can execute good shots, birdie opportunities abound as this course has five Par 3's and five Par 5's.

With its location, conditioning, service and affordability, Bonnyville Golf and Country Club is a wonderful place for any caliber player to pursue their passion.

Bonnyville G&CC

Expectations are always high when the opportunity to play the Bonnyville G&CC comes up. The course is usually in tip top condition at the best of times but, today...wow! What an exceptionally well conditioned course on offer for todays tournament. Perfect weather.

Large flat tee boxes provided no excuses for mishits off the tee. The fairways, tightly mown and plush. The course is nicely routed and there are mature trees framing most fairways. The rough about 4 inches but manageable. Plenty of elevation changes. The bunkers and water hazards will come into play if you aren't paying attention. The greens were in immaculate shape and rolled as true and fast as any I've played...ever.

There really aren't any weak holes on this course. Good shots are rewarded and any weaknesses in your game can quickly bite you. Holes 14 & 16 are standouts.

Bonnyville G&CC

A golf course that I've played once or twice a year for years, always in great condition. This a golf course that will keep drawing you back because you know if you can just avoid those two or three errant swings you can beat it. Nicely routed, doglegs left & right, a splash of water here & there, thoughtful bunkering & rolling greens that putt very well.

Very good condition

Tough course to score well but very playable. Small mishits in the wrong places can be extremely costly.
