Don't bother at this time

This appears to be a 9-hole par 3 that had the 2nd nine added at a later date. The front is in poor condition. Despite record rain, fairways are rough and patchy with obvious winter kill. Greens are small, some elevated like a pile of dirt was dumped, smoothed out and seeded. The back nine is more "adult" like and will be the prefered nine should you choose to play here. However, I personally would not recommend it until perhaps later in the summer or early fall. As stated above, record rain has decimated the fairways and bunkers. Sadly, management/ownership appear to be unconcerned and are shamelessly still charging full price green fees. The only positive I can state is the greens on the back nine are in impeccable condition. But driving through stale, stinking, mosquito infested water in efforts to reach the green does not motivate me to recommend this course at this time.

Way better places for your buck

This campground and golf course went downhill rapidly after new ownership took over. Guests are frequently treated with disrespect, and interactions with the owners are often rude, condescending, and intimidating. Harassment has become common rather than rare.

There’s a reason this place almost always has availability. Camp or golf here once and you may find yourself made uncomfortable enough to leave, or outright pushed out by aggressive behavior. Many long-time customers have left rather than continue dealing with how they’re treated.

Despite charging premium prices, the golf course is in terrible condition. Poorly maintained, hard, and uneven — it feels more like golfing on a cement farmer’s field than an actual course.

What was once a place people enjoyed has become one to avoid. Save your money and your time — there are far better options run by people who respect their guests.

I like it.

I'm a long time member at Whistle Stop and like the convenience, people, and course. It is close to Camrose, not too busy, and each year the track improves. The front nine is mainly par 3s and difficult due to small, elevated greens that require precision targeting and the back nine is full size with good greens and challenging drives. The clubhouse is quite new and has a good menu, licensed, and craft beer.
