Lee Creek Valley GC
I arrived at the Lee Creek Valley GC mid afternoon under cool, dreary skies accompanied by intermittent rain showers. And by the looks of the empty parking lot, I'd more than likely have the course to myself.
The clubhouse is cozy and overlooks a scenic course surrounded by the rolling landscape that is Lee Creek Valley. While the starter went to find my golf cart I busied myself by digging out all my rain gear.
This Les Furber Golf Design utilizes the natural topography by furnishing a wonderful mix of par 3's, 4's and 5's and providing numerous elevation changes, all set against the back drop of the valley.
The course opens with a great view from an elevated tee that looks down upon a fairway that plays to 387 yards. It is a slight dogleg left that finishes into a lush green tucked in amongst mature trees and a protective greenside bunker. Good holes seem to follow one after the other. The 185 yard, 4th is a delightful par 3, requiring a mid to long iron over a fair sized pond and through a chute of trees to find a nicely contoured green that also slopes from back to front. Hole 6, a crafty, sharp dogleg left that can tempt golfers to cut as much of the corner off as they dare. Holes 8 and 9 both provide more enjoyment allowing you to drive off elevated tees onto well kept fairways.
The back nine will continue to entertain you and challenge both your confidence and your golfing abilities. An equally arresting and demanding hole is the 18th. This 592 yard, par 5 which doglegs right around Lee Creek and continues to a green that is nestled amongst a copse of trees. A very nice finishing hole.
The greens are of varied sizes, receptive and rolled smoothly at a nice pace. Take your time reading them as there are plenty of swales, undulations and contours to navigate if you're looking to keep the putts to a minimum. The course is accented with about two dozen well placed bunkers. Almost every hole can be a feast for the eyes.
The course was in very good condition, the paved cart paths were all recently redone, the bunkers had plenty of sand. The rough was playable considering the rain that would come and go during my round. The greens were manicured to a high degree and putts on all 18 holes rolled consistently and at a nice pace.
Even with the mixed weather, there was no shortage of fun and I relished having the course pretty much to myself.
Opened for play in 2024, this Par 71, 6,782 yard layout should have you examining every part of your game. Plenty of elevation changes, wide fairways, large contoured greens and great scenery make this a golf course you should go out of your way to play.

Beautiful, Challenging, Suites all levels of Golfers
Such a great course. Holes are unique and challenging to play. Each of the holes has a picturesque view that are sure to please the eye. Be sure to get to this course as soon as possible. You will not be disappointed. You are almost certain to see some kind of wildlife from foxes, deer, and the occasional bear. Located along the Lee Creek Valley there are all sorts of birds that call this course home. So if you are wanting to see a beautiful course, with great scenery that is still challenging look no further. The Cardston Golf Course has it all.
Nice Layout, Not Ideal Conditions
I played this course for the first time after being told a few times of how nice of a place it is. I can see the potential this course has but my visit was hindered by construction and recent maintenance.
First of all they are repairing the creek bank which will improve any future flooding possibilities but there were large mud tracks all over the course and the 18th hole was changed from a Par 5 to a Par 3 to accommodate. Second the greens were punched, first one in the area that I know of, and it hindered the experience as well.
I will return to this course when its in its prime, but I want to know the conditions before I arrive.
(Note there was a $10 discount for the punching of the greens but nothing was mentioned when booking of the construction)
Great Day of Golf
This scenic course is fun to play. It is forgiving but challenging. The change in terrain along the valley provides some good elevated tees and challenging drives. The greens could be smoother but were ok
Lee Creek does it again!
I've played here a number of times in the past few years, and I love taking new people to this course to experience this gem! It is a must play if you are in Southern Alberta. There is so much variety and wildlife to view, this course will never get boring to play! The views, the elevation changes, and 5 or 6 signature holes will keep this course on my regular rotation.
Course is very scenic with various elevations
Great course to play, one hour from our home is very convenient. We really enjoy the beauty, the challenge, and the way the course is maintained; often deer can be seen running across the fairway(s).
The staff are very accommodating and friendly; the tee times are fairly steady but securing a tee time is usually possible.
For golfers wanting to camp, there is a very nice camp ground, with full hookups available, very close to the golf course.
Great for just a day of golf.
Excellent golf course, but poor facilities. Enjoyed the course quality but was disappointed with the club house and food. Great southern Alberta gem for course quality.
Gem
Loved the course, each hole is different, terrific design. Go play this course
Be Prepared!
Wow! Great scenery, wildlife, very well maintained and full of challenges. Front nine has several tough holes and the back nine will beat you up if you didn't bring your A Game. Only drawback is the lack of a club house restaurant but snacks are available. I came to to golf and not eat so no big deal for me. Lots of elevation changes and steep hills - walking?? You had better be in excellent shape or you won't make it with out struggling. Get a cart! Make a tour and take in Waterton National Parks and it's fine course. Want more mountain challenges - head into the Crows Nest Pass and golf their course. Numerous other nice 9 hole courses in the area as well - GO PLAY!
Cardston Challenge
A great course that is a must if you are in the SW corner of Alberta. The only thing missing from this professionally designed course was a better score on my behalf. Tricky elevation changes, water and contour variations make this a good test of your ability.
Oops! the course opened in 2004, not 2024
