Pace of Play
The only problem was pace of play. Not a 5 minute wait at some tees but but 5 groups backed up at the 10th hole. One group actually decided to go back and play the front 9 again rather than wait. It didn't get much better until we were on the 16th and the problem groups were off the course.
Having said that, the course and the staff were excellent and this is a great value. Great layout, very playable, fun greens and lots of variations.
Thanks.
Great round, not to far from the city.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The course was in very good shape, very playable. Fun layout with lots of fun and challenging greens.
Pace of play was a bit of an issue on the back nine. We arrived at the 10th tee as the 5th group and that hole. One group got frustrated and went to play the front 9 again. By the 13th hole we were still waiting as much as 15 minutes to tee off. When the Marshall drove by he told us it was bunched up bc of the weekend crowd and it's to be expected, warnings had been issued. It didn't really improve until the 17th, when offending groups were off the course.
They had great sandwiches and cold beer and the pro shop was well stocked with nice merch. Adequate washroom facilities on-course. Next time I'll try it on a week day.
Hidden gem
Sherwood is a hidden gem! While the course conditions floundered for a few years it’s in fantastic shape this year. I have never seen so many grounds staff working away each time I have been there. Pro shop staff are excellent. A little more work on a few cart path areas and re do the bunkers and this course will be top rate.
A hidden challenging beauty
This place has surprised us very much. Hilly like some of the courses at home in Switzerland. The fairways narrow, many obstacles, the greens in good condition if a bit slow. Very friendly staff, we were even escorted to tee #1. Thank you, we will be back even though we live a bit further away (Shelburne).
Sherwood not golf there again
For a 55.00 course it was in terrible shape. The cart paths were absolutely terrible. It was,at one time, a very nice course. The “bones “ are there. It is in disrepair for sure.
Improvemnt
Saw a bit of improvement. Greens still slow. Nice track
Disappointed
Such a beautiful track that use to be pristine shape. Tees all beat up, greens long and slow. This use to be a real hidden secret and such in good shape. There has to be an infusion of cash for maintenance and manicuring before everyone gives up on it.
Over priced
This course should be no more than a 35-40 dollars to play
Conditions are poor on both fairways and green
Course could have been in better condition. Some very challenging holes and relatively small greens. Nice elevation changes.
Horrible price for condition of course
Course should be no more than 40$ with a cart due to not being a walkable golf course. The current price of 70-80 with a cart is outrageous and frankly criminal. Course conditions were very poor. Seems like they haven't put money into the course or it's conditions for 20 years. Staff were friendly.
This course used to be it great condition but the last time I played it it was horrible. Puddles on the greens...burnt patches everywhere. I highly recommend you stay clear of this course.
The good, the bad & the ugly
After 3 holes almost quit as course at first seemed like a goat track Tee boxes unimpressive (small & grass was sparse).White & red tees share boxes. Blue boxes as forward tees except they don't show up on scorecard (confusing). Course layout is unique.Lots of elevation changes (uphill/downhill holes) make it challenging especially if like us you are not using gps or rangefinders for distances. Fairways and cart paths are incredibly uneven requiring very slow cart driving. Our cart was dying on the last 5 holes(no power) and we barely made it in. Greens were slow but rolled true. Some holes were punishing (a 610 yard par 5? and a 475 yard par 4?) Starter was kind & welcoming. Not horrible but not great.
