About
Designed by the Gary Player Design Company in 1993, Rio Colorado is a scenic course overlooking the Colorado River. The course is the result of Jim Hardy's vision-he pushed hard to create a facility that would rival any of the top layouts in Houston, yet be available to the public for a fraction of the cost. Almost 3 million dollars went into the clubhouse and the course is immaculate-well worth the drive to Bay City for those who are interested in adding this track to their golf resumes.
The most striking design aspect is the difference between the two nines. The front nine is more of a links-style route, wide open and susceptible to the coastal winds, while the back nine is carved out of the trees, with holes 13-17 rolling along the river.
No. 14 is one of the best holes, playing 322 yards doglegging 150 feet above the river. A 250-yard drive will cut the dogleg and carry across the river for the ideal birdie position.
Hole 18 is one demanding ender-playing 474 yards, it's not a welcome sight at the end of a long, hot summer day.
Other notes: Call ahead to ensure there isn't a tournament; otherwise, it's generally easy to walk on the course. The city park next to the course offers camping and fishing on the Colorado River. Watch the wetlands on the course, as alligators inhabit the swampy terrain. Supposedly there are two nudist colonies around Boling, so watch out if you're taking the back roads.
Getting there : From Hwy. 60 west, travel through Bay City and then turn right on FM 2668. The course is on the right side.

Golf Pass and course SUCKS! No recourse!
Used Golf Pass “hot deal” and coupon to end up paying MORE than just showing up. Apparently Thursdays is their $20 day and unbeknownst to us they doubled us up with two large men and my GF can barely play. Then they couldn’t prove we paid. While trying to get a cell single to prove we paid with the app the old women came out to say we had paid. She could we were upset about being doubled up as there would be no way we could play along with the men we were doubled with. Then she started complaining to us that Golf Pass had taken their tees times and nothing she could do. On top of all that she told my GF she couldn't play without a collared shirt. She had on a nice cotton tee shirt with no graphics. Sign said no tank tops but wasn’t going to argue at that point. I’d NEVER go back there! We went down the road to a nice little 9 hole and paid cash. Palacios Golf that’s not on this stinking app that has NO recourse for this! By the time I got home it’s was 2 after 5pm and no way to text this app. My GF has JUST started playing and this was and unfortunate incident and tried telling her MOST places aren’t this ridiculous! We had just played Freeport on their “cheap” Tuesday’s for $20 and had a great experience.
Fantastic fun juncture on an exceptional course
This is my fourth time traveling from Pearland to pay golf at my favorite golf course. Roo Colorado is the place to enjoy a great round of golf with friends. The various slopes and beautiful greens maker the trip well worth coming out. I'll be coming back soon🕳️⛳✝️✨
Price
They have every Thursday 20$ tee times. I paid 34$ dollars with y’all what gives won’t do that again???
Fantastic Golf Course
This golf course is by far my favorite of all courses in Texas. I look forward to returning soon. I travel an hour in a half to play here, and it’s definitely worth the drive.
Good Value
Good layout, good fairway conditions, greens good except for a couple and pace of play great. Overall a good value!
Great time
Great course and super nice people working the clubhouse and grounds. The owner even stopped and introduced himself. Definitely would recommend to anyone asking. Would consider joining had they not asked for 6 months up front but other than that had a great time and was paired with a couple of Great guys. Busy day but still thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the round.
rio colorado
great course and staff, conditions were good at the course. very enjoyable course to play for the money
self
the course ok greens were in bad shape winter damage but playable. the course was not many people there played the course in 3 hours .great time. will play again.
Staff isn’t all that friendly and greens need some help
Used to be a friendly family owned place to play. They have increased green fees and that’s about the only thing that’s gone up. Some of the greens were in need of repair. Carts are slow as he!!. If there was another place nearby to play I wonder if this coarse would make it…
The R. C.
A nice drive from the city but was glad to get out and play this course for the first time. Slow pace, which was nice as a beginner not wanting to rush my shot.
