Enjoyable round at Nobleton Lakes
Played the Lakes/Woods combination yesterday. Overall, it was a nice outing despite the unseasonably hot weather. The course condition, from tee to green, was excellent. The Lakes course has a nice layout, however, I do find the Woods course has perhaps too many blind shots.
If not for the pace of play on the front 9
We played Lakes and Views. Interesting mix of holes where course knowledge would help on some of the green approach shots. Greens rolled true, had good pace, and many breaks. Long putts are not friendly on these greens given the swales which can make being on the wrong side of the hole very punishing.
While we were a twosome, unfortunately the foursome ahead of us lost contact with the foursome in front of them by the 4th hole and were over a hole behind by the 6th which made for a long front 9. To be fair, the course marshal sent them to the Woods nine for their back such we played the back in a very respectable hour 45 minutes in spite of catching up to a foursome. But that is the risk of public courses.
Very nice course indeed
Have not played this course for qite some time and now revisit this course and it has improved a lot.
The scenery is excellent and even there are lots of trees, the fairways are pretty generous and wide so unless you really hit a very bad shot, you still have the chance to save it.
Unable to play all three nine holes but will play again in the near future. The fairways, green and even the rough are well kept. The rough is quite thick and sometimes difficult to find your ball unless you come pretty close to it. But it is well cut and even and almost no weed at all. Very good job on weed control. Speed of play is good. Staff as usual is friendly and check in is quick.
First Time
Nice course, tough greens...a lot of false fronts - pins were on top of hills when I played. Good course overall - play pace a little slow....nobody repairs their ball marks!
nobleton lakes meh
This is a tough course, narrow with water and trees on almost every hole and undulating greens. It has some nice layout holes but overall I was lukewarm. The greens are full of odd undulations that seem tricked up. The pin placements were in horrible positions that at times had people putting off the greens. Sorry greenskeeper this isnt augusta, a pin at the middle of a downhill slope isnt fair or fun. They also made us take a cart which is annoying. I shot mid 80s from blues but this was a course that just felt empty and kind of meh...
Great condition Tough course
Signed in and got a cart and went to the first hole. Spoke to the starter and that was the low point of the day. He was gruff, impolite and unfriendly. If he were the gauge of the course I wouldn't go back to NL. Hopefully they get rid of him before I return.
Otherwise the course offers all sorts of different challenging holes and is in excellent shape.
great course
I have to admit this is not an easy course. it is bumpy and it does have a great deal of elevation changes and very few flat lies on the course. Bring a few extra balls as you will need them. the greens were average and rolled pretty well.
